Welson, who died at Appleton last week, Tuesday, Nov. 6, was born in Schwarin, Mecklinburg, Germany, in February, 1849, reaching an age of 68 years. Deceased came to America sixty-six years ago with his parents, Henry Welson and wife. In March 1868, a few months lacking of fifty years ago, he was united in marriage to Ellen Chase, who survives him. Mr. Welson will be well remembered by the former settlers, having been a Winneconne resident until thirty-two years ago, when he moved to Appleton, following the occupation of engineer. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Baptist congregation. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with interment in the cemetery at Appleton. The Masonic lodge had charge of the services and Rev. Thomas W. Gales preached the sermon. Besides the sorrowing widow, Mr. Welson leaves to mourn their loss four children, seven grandchildren and a brother, George E. Welson and a sister, Mrs. Mary Thomas of Winneconne.
