Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Anna WHEELER ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, January 2010 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Omro Journal November 14, 1895 p.1 Many of the citizens of Omro were surprised on Sunday morning at church time to learn of the death, at about 9:30 on Saturday evening, of Mrs. Anna Wheeler, wife of Dr. P.A. Wheeler, as but few in the village knew of her illness. She was taken sick on Monday of last week, went to bed and did not leave it thereafter. The disease from which she died was a complication of stomach and bowel trouble from which she had suffered for some time. The funeral was held from the family residence at 10 o'clock on Monday. Rev. Sherwin officiating, after which the body was taken to Oshkosh for burial. Anna Sowles was born on August 30 1850 and on June 21 1869 was married to Dr. Wheeler her now bereaved husband. In 1884 the family moved to Oshkosh from Alburgh Vt. In 1886 they moved to the town of Omro, where they have lived most of the time, until they came to this village less than two years since. She had been a member of the Methodist church for years, and was highly respected by all who knew her. Besides her husband she leaves two children. Miss Mabel and Willie Wheeler, who have the deep sympathy of our citizens in this affliction which has come upon them.
