Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Prudence WOOD ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, November 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local Sept. 9, 1915 p.1 Mrs. Prudence Wood Dead Word has been received at this village that Mrs. Prudence Wood died Aug. 29, at the home of her son, Seward E. Wood, near McDonough, N.Y. Early in their married life, in 1855, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Wood came to make their home in Winneconne and when the Civil war broke out Mr. Wood was the first man from our village to enlist. Mrs. Wood was a very industrious and enterprising woman and during her husband's absence she bravely cared for herself and her family. After Mr. Wood's death in 1901, Mrs. Wood left Winneconne for a time to be with her son in Missouri. She returned for a few years, but two years ago last April she went to N.Y. to share the home of her son. She was an interested member of the Presbyterian church and until her hearing failed she was a faithful attendant. Mrs. Wood was a woman of strong personality, a very true friend and always ready to lend a helping hand to any one in need. These qualities with here bright and original way and words made her known and prized as one of Winneconne's remarkable women.
