S. Wood A Resident of Winneconne Passes Away in That Village The death of T. S. Wood, an old resident of Winneconne, occurred last Saturday at his home on Cedar street in that village. He was born at Sutter, Quebec, August 5, 1829. He came to Wisconsin from New York and settled at Winneconne with his wife, May 9, 1855. The remainder of his life was spent in Winneconne in the occupation of farming. Mr. Wood was the first man to enlist from Winneconne in the civil war. He went to Fond du Lac and enlisted in Co. G of the Third Wisconsin infantry, July 9, 1861, serving until 1864, when he came home on account of injuries. He took part in the most severe battles of the war, among them Bull's Bluff, Antietam and Gettysburg. He served as town superintendent of schools at one time and for many years was a justice of the peace. He was mainly instrumental in securing a public park for the village. He is survived by a widow and one child. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church in Winneconne, Monday, Rev. Mr. Sillars officiating.
