Merrick, of Washington, D.C., were married at two o'clock this afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Getchius, at 128 Merritt street. The ceremony was quietly performed by the Very Reverand [sic] Father O'Malley, V.G., and only a few of the relatives and intimate friends witnessed the ceremony. The decorations of the house were very simple, though artistic, and in complete harmony with the character of the ceremony. The couple were attended by Miss Dodie Carey and John C. Schweers, of Shawano. The bride wore a brown traveling costume trimmed with broad bands of the same material, and she carried pink roses. The bridesmaid wore a pretty steel gray costume and carried pink roses. Mr. and Mrs. Merrick left in the afternoon on a wedding trip to Milwaukee and Chicago. They will probably spend some time in Chicago before going to Washington. Among the guests from abroad were Mrs. Merrick, Mr. and Mrs. Sprague and Miss Kittie McDonald of Shawano. A large number of presents were given the couple including several from relatives in New York.
