High Ercall Letters - c 1850-1870. Transcribed by Roberta's mother, contributed by Roberta Bailey : Family letters from England to a family who lived in Wood County, WI dating from the 1850's to the 1870's. Two brothers, Thomas & John Davies, came to America leaving their parents & siblings in England. Some of these letters are complete with the mispellings & some have been cleaned up. Roberta's mother started transcribing them several years ago but passed away before finishing so Roberta picked up where she left off. In all it looks like there are 16. Longswood March 22 My Dear Brother and sister i recevid your kind and wilcom letter and was verry glad to hear that you ware all well as i ham verry happy to sa that i ---- at present and I think ---- are at home. Dear Sister i was verry sory to hear so sad account of your mother but i hope she is better now. i ham verry glad that you are both happy togathar and licke your new home. i should licke to see you. I have been thinking of coming some morning in May. Pleas to give my love to my Br and tell that i was verry glad to hear that he ad been to see john and his family fore ha as------- ----------. Pleas to send me sume of your hare and Thomas and tha little girls as well. Pleas to give my love to all enquiring frinds and acpt tha same your self from your loving sister Esthar Davies Potatoes are 5 –6 per ----- and bread corn as been the cheapest thing we have had to buy this winter but now it is rising very fast.
