Jones, George Edward - Wood County WI Archives Obituaries Waushara County Argus October 17, 1951 George Edward Jones, who was born in the township of Saratoga, Wood Co. on February 4, 1872, died at his home in Lohrville at 8:30 p.m. October 17th after an illness of about six weeks. He was married Jan. 18th, 1900 to Miss Hattie McBain at New Lisbon. He lived most of his life in the Lindsey district, moving to Lohrville in 1946. Mr. & Mrs. Jones had celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in January of 1950. Surviving are his widow and six sons: Ralph and Leonard, of Chicago; Charles, of Whitewater; Phillip and Gerald of Red Granite; and John, of Lindsey; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy McCord and Mrs. Lily Truman, of Whitewater; Mrs. Ruby Scott, of Rockford; Mrs. Evelyn Hobbs, Red Granite; and Mrs. Shirley Withers, Lohrville; also by 27 grandchildren, a brother Wesley, of New Lisbon; and three sisters, Mrs. Della Rilma, New Lisbon, Mrs. Minnie Ward of Zephyr Hills, Florida and Mrs. Cora Ristow, of Hustler. Pallbearers were his five sons. Those attending the funeral from away besides the relatives were Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Hewitt, of Lindsey. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 20th at 2 p.m. at the Hemple Funeral Home in Red Granite with Rev. Sneedsby, Berlin, officiating, with burial in the Foster Road Cemetery at Red Granite. Songs at the funeral services were "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Going Home". Additional Comments: (not included in the obituary) George E.
