He was born May 11, 1940, at Meriden, Barbour County, a son of the late Isaac Sylvester and Lummy (Mayle) Mayle. On January 10, 1963, he married the former Veldean Croston, who survives at Philippi. Also surviving are one daughter, Virginia Kennedy and husband, Woodie, Canton, Oh.; four sons, Mark R. Croston and wife, Cosetta Dalton, Louisville, Oh., Hartzel Mayle and wife, Becky, Volga, James Mayle and wife, Marsha, Moatsville, Israel Mayle and wife, Heather, Philippi; five brothers, Alston Mayle, Canton, Edmond Mayle, Mickey Mayle, Cecil Mayle and Terry Mayle, all of Philippi; two sisters, Alma Kennedy, Philippi and Clementa Rose Croston, Canton, Oh.; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Leanna Mayle and by one brother, Isaac Junior Mayle. Mr. Mayle was a retired construction laborer who often described himself by saying "rain, show sleet or shine, I'm an everyday guy." His faith was in God and he worshiped privately and in many churches. Mr. Mayle was an avid hunter and fisherman. (Funeral services will be conducted from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi, at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 28. The Rev. Winfield Mayle and the Rev. Menelus Mayle will officiate and interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
