A daughter of Marshall and Mozell Smith Lake, she was born in Barbour County, September 19, 1874. Her husband, John Moats, preceded her in death several years ago. Those surviving are two step sons Edward Moats of Philippi and Charles Moats of Akron, Ohio; one step daughter, Mrs. Bernice Chenoweth of Philippi; one brother W. B. Lake of Volga; one sister, Miss Dosia Lake of Dayton, Ohio; several nieces and Nephews. She was a member of the Methodist church for many years. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Philippi with Rev. Ottis Linger officiating. Internment was made in the Silent Grove Cemetery. __________________________________
