He was born in Barbour County, APril 20, 1885, a son of the late James. A. and Elizabeth Byrd Phillips Ryan. He is survived by his wife, the former Stella Maude Gainer; two sons Gerald of Falls Church, VA, and James Frederick, Clarksburg; one daughter, Betty, wife of Denver Simon, Diamond, Ohio; two brothers, Ralph of Elkins, William of Belington; one sister, Mrs. Velma Cross, Rt 2, Belington; 7 grand children; 12 great grand children. One brother and three sisters are deceased. He was an employee of the State Road Commission. Final rites were held in Belington on Monday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m. with Albert E. Finley, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment followed in Valley Bend Cemetery. __________________________________
