He never married. The Barter's Tucson Arizona Directory, 1881 lists him as a real estate dealer and an agent for the Wells-Fargo Express Company at Tucson. He was a postmaster at Mohawk, Yuma County Arizona from April 28, 1893 to August 22, 1895 and secretary of the Mohawk Canal Company. He died on December 1, 1899, aged 60 at the U.S. Soldier's Home in Sawtelle California. He's buried at the Soldier's Home Cemetery in Los Angeles.
