[---?]th Decem'r 1814 James Barbour Esq'r Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come greeting: Know ye That by virtue of a Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 4495, issued the 30th of September, 1808, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Philip Stout, a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres, by survey bearing date the 22nd day of May 1812, situate in the County of Berkeley, on the drains of Sleepy Creek, and bounded as followeth, to wit: Beginning at a white oak and white oak stump on a hill corner to said Stout's land, thence leaving the same south fifty nine degrees, east fifty one and an half poles, to a gum tree in the field, north sixteen and three fourths degrees, east one hundred and ten poles to a maple and dogwood on the east bank of a drain and Serwas[?] line; north twenty eight degrees, west one hundred and four poles to a (white) [next page] (76) white oak corner to said Stout and thence with his line south eight and an half degrees, west one hundred and seventy three poles to the beginning With its appurtenances: To Have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Philip Stout and his heirs forever.
