I am of opineon that the weakness produced by the wounds render him unable to procure a living by hard labour, and that he is the proper object to stand upon the list of pensioners Given under my hand this 20th February 1787. Charles ????? I do herby certify that Matthew Burk a soldier in the 4th Virginia Regt.. was wounded in the Shoulder in the Battle of Trenton in the year 1777. And always behaved himself as a good soldier and It is my oppinion is Entitled to the State's bounty in Such Cases. Given under my hand the 19th July 1787. William Cherry, late cap't 4th Va. regt. I do, with the advice of council, hereby certify that Matthew Burk, aged about __years , late a private in the 4th Virginia Regiment, whose pay was at the rate of 24 pounds per annum, was wounded in the service of The United States , and he is allowed the sum of ten pounds yearly, to commence on the first day of January 1786.
