F. Gayer, of this city, had ridden one of his father's horses to a pasture field to bring another horse home. The little fellow had secured the horse and had started back, leading one and riding the other, when it is supposed the horses took fright and ran off, either throwing him off or the led one pulling him from the saddle head downwards, his foot catching in the stirrup. In this condition he was dragged several hundred yeards, the horses trampling him between them. He was found in the road near the toll gate on the road leading to Walker's Mill, in a horribly bruised condition with the scalp of the head torn entirely lose from the scull.
