Triplett Mar. 1856 Joseph Johnson Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting: Know Ye, That in conformity with the survey made on the twenty seventh day of April, One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty four by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrants nos. 18,483 & 19604 there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Samuel Tharp a certain tract or parcel of land, containing One Hundred and thirty acres lying in Braxton County, on the South side of Elk River adjoining lands of Zachariah Woods and John B. McCourts and bounded as follows, Viz, Beginning at a rock and stake near said Tharp's house where a line of said Woods land strikes a line of said McCourts land. & Thence with said line of said McCourt N 55 degrees W 160 Poles to an ash & hickory on said line S 4 1/2 degrees W 42 Poles to two chestnut oaks on a point facing Cave run S 36 1/4 degrees W 84 Poles to a beech and white oak S 12 1/2 degrees W 80 Poles, crossing Cave run, to two beeches S 46 degrees E 28 Poles to a chestnut oak on a cliff near said river S 7 1/2 degrees E 20 Poles to a rock on the upper end of an island near the mouth of cave run N 61 3/4 E 90 Poles following said river near lower end of said island & thence with Z Woods line N 33 degrees E 66 Poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. To have and to hold said Tract or Parcel of land with its appurtenances, to the said Samuel Tharp and his heirs forever. In witness whereof, the said, Joseph Johnson, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia,hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the second day of April in the year of Our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty five and of the Commonwealth, the seventy ninth.
