GROVER LEESON MURDERED
Grover Leeson, formerly of Sutton, was killed by Walley Marks at Cherry Falls, 
near Webster Springs, last Sunday night.

Both men were employed as miners and Marks had been a boarder at the Leeson 
home for some time. It is said that Marks, who is a married man, became 
enraged because Leeson objected to Marks attention to his 15 year old 
daughter. 

Marks is a former resident of Gilmer County and for a time was employed by 
Bower and Copen, at which places Leeson also worked. Marks waived preliminary 
hearing and is being held in the Webster County Jail.
 
Mr. Leeson is survived by his widow and eight children who came to Sutton 
yesterday. Leeson’s body was brought to Sutton and interment was made in the 
Sutton Cemetary Tuesday afternoon. Rev. B. S. Hamrick conducting the service 
at the grave.
