It may be freely copied, but may not be sold. ******************************************************************* Aaron Hedges et al to Demanda Cheek & others Brooke County Courthouse, Deed Book 22, p. 108-109: Transcribed by Laura Thomas, May 8, 1998 This deed made this 13 day of Jany Eighteen hundred and seventy two (1872) between Aaron Hedges and Ann Hedges his wife of the first part and Demanda Cheek, Morton Cheek & Broades Cheek heirs of Austin Cheek deceased of the second part all of Brooke County & State of West Virginia. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of six hundred dolls ($600.00) in hand paid by the said parties of the second part heirs of Austin Cheek died and whereas the said Austin Cheek was the original purchaser of the property hereby conveyed and did shortly thereafter leaving by his last will and testament the said property hereinafter described to his wife Demanda Cheek during her life and at her death to his two youngest sons Morten and Broades equally and the parties of the second part having paid the balance of the purchase money on said property and said will having been admitted to probate in the Recorders office of Brooke County on the day of AD1871. The said parties of the first part do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said parties of the second part with covenant of general warranty all their right title and interest in and to the following property. To wit certain lots of land with the appurtenances thereon situated in the Town of Bethany County and State aforesaid and marked on the plot of said town Nos 101 & 102 lying on the north side of Richardson Street and containing by measurement 14,400 square feet that is an area of 120 ft in front by 120 feet back. Witness the following signatures and seals the day and year first above written. Allest (Signed) Simon Sauck Aaron Hedges Jas. S. Kerr Anne A. Hedges (her mark) State of West Virginia Brooke County to Wit I Jas. A. Kerr a Justice of the Peace of Buffalo Township of said county do certify that Aaron Hedges and Anne Hedges his wife whose names are signed to the above deed bearing date Jany 13, 1872 Acknowledged the same before me in my Township aforesaid. And the said Ann Hedges his wife of the said Aaron Hedges being examined by me privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her Acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.
