ESTHER L. ADAMS, 82, former resident of Wellsburg, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, in East Earl, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles M. and Anna M. Waldvogel Wiles. She retired from Brooke County Schools in 1976 after 27 years of service. Her last position was as head of the Math Department at Brooke High School. Over the years, she also taught at Follansbee High School and Warwood High School. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Christian Church in Beech Bottom; Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority; the Brooke County Retired School Employees, the AARP; and the Christian Women's Fellowship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers. "Bananas" Ferrari, Sr., 78, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1997 at the Brightwood Nursing Home, Follansbee. Born Sept. 13, 1919, west Moreland County, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Pierina (Versalaci) Ferrar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn McMunn Ferrar and a brother, Frank Ferrari, Jr. A member of the Wellsburg Christian Church, he was retired from both Windsor Power Coal Company and as a Brooke County School bus driver. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Eltringham); two sons, Frank of Wellburg and Walter, Jr., of Huston, TX; two stepsons, George and Thomas Eltringham, both of Wellsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Beatrice) Bladish of Slovan, PA and Mrs. John (Alna) Adams of Midland, PA, for grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at the Brooke Cemetery. J. MERLE FORESHA, 81, of Follansbee, formerly of Jewett, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998. He was formerly self employed in his family's trucking business, a retired letter carrier in the Follansbee Post Office, a Methodist and an Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvia LeRoy and Dessie Thompson Foresha; two brothers, George A. and Paul L. Foresha. She was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Weirton, and co-owner of the former Strand Confectionary, for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; her parents, Michael and Helen Astifidis; two brothers, five sisters. Gordon, 93, of Bethany, died Wednesday, December 17, 1997, in Valley Haven Geriatric Center, Beech Bottom. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Edwin W. and Mary Helena McElhinny Gordon. She was an elementary school teacher in Ambridge, PA, with 30 years of service, and taught in the Brooke County Schools for several years as an elementary teacher in Bethany, WV. She also worked for Bethany College as a registrar until her retirement. She was a member of the Bethany Memorial Church, and was also a member of the Eastern Star.
