Mt' d Vols was enrolled Sept 9 1861 and mustered out roll of Co dated Wheeling, W.Va. July 8 1865 shows him wounded Apr 8 1865 at Appomattox C.H. Ind. m/o roll shows him m/o Aug 20 1865 to date July 8 1865 at Wheeling, W.Va. He held the rank of PVT., Corp., and SGT. No roll on file for Apr 30 '62 or June 30 '63. Re enlisted as Vet. Vol. Dec 20 '63 Feb 24 '64 on furlough. No rolls on file for Apr 30 to Aug 31 '64. Apr 30 '65 wounded and sent to hospital at Appomattox Station. June 30 '65 hospital at Washington. (Became Co F, 1st W.Va. Cav. Jan or Feb '64) As Josh Beverlin, SGT. Co. F 1st W.Va. Cavalry, wounded severely in the back at Appomattox Apr 8'65: also as J. Beverlin wounded in side at the battle of Appomattox, Va. Apr 8'65. Also as Joshua Beverlin wounded in body, fatal at the battle of Appomattox, Va. Apr 8'65 treated as SGT Co F 1st Va Cavalry Apr 14 & 15 1865. G S W L Region: as SGT Co F 1st WVA Apr 17 to 21 '65. G S W back as SGT Co F 1st Va Cav. Apr 21'65 (no diagnosis) as Joshua Beverlin SGT Co F 1st WV Cav July 24 to Aug 21'65, G S W of posterior part of abdomen with fracture of left ilium: Aug 22'65 Convalescent. Nothing additional found. State of West Virginia, County of Doddridge On this 10th day of September 1912, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the county and state aforesaid, Joshua Beverlin who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 70 years of age, and a resident of Folsom, RFD#1 County of Doddridge, State of W.Va. and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Clarksburg, W.Va. under the name of Joshua Beverlin on the 12th day of August 1861 as a Corporal in Co F 1st Reg't W.Va. Cav'y Vols. in the service of the United States, in the Civil War, and was honorably discharged at New Creek, W.Va. on the 31st day of Dec 1863. That he also served, re enlisted 23rd day of Dec 1863, and served as Serg't in Co. F 1st Reg't W.Va. Cav'y Vols. and was finally discharged at Wheeling,W.Va. July 8'65. That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height: 5'7 1/2 "; complexion: fair; color of eyes: grey; color of hair: light; that his occupation was Farmer; that he was born Sept 10th 1842 in Doddridge County, Va. now W.Va. That his several places of residence since leaving the service of the United States have been as follows: in Doddridge County, W.Va That he is now totally disabled for manual labor from gunshot wound of lower part of body. ARMY PENSION/INVALID'S CLAIM State of West Virginia County of Taylor On this 29th day of Sept A.D. 1865 personally appeared before me A. Armstrong, Clerk of the Circuit Court for the County and State aforesaid, Joshua Beverlin aged 23 years, a resident of McClellan township in Doddridge County, and State of West Virginia who being duly sworn, according to law, declares that he is the identical Joshua Beverlin who enlisted in the service of the United States at Clarksburg in Harrison County, and State of West Virginia on the 9th day of Sept 1861 as a Sergeant in company F commanded by Capt. Robert R. West in the 1st Regiment of West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry commanded by Col. Henry Capehart of Bridgeport, Ohio in the war of 1861, and was honorably discharged at Wheeling in Ohio County, and State of West Virginia on the 8th day of July in the year 1865 that while in the service of aforesaid, and in the line of his duty, he was wounded by a minnie ball fired by the enemy while engaged in Battle at Appomattox Station, Va. on the 8th day of April 1865, which took in effect in the right of his back near the kidney passing through and lodging in his left hip, fracturing the bone, thereby rendering him totally disabled from obtaining his subsistence by manual labor. That he has resided at Grafton in Taylor County and State of West Virginia since leaving the service, and is by occupation a farmer.
