Foster Jr., 87, of Scarbro, WV died on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at his home. Born August 19, 1921 at Scarbro, WV he was the son of the late Willis Alfred Foster, Sr. and Laura Victoria Martin Foster. He was a retired coal miner. Also during his working years he was a Fayette County Constable, School Bus Driver, and Process Server. Junior Foster loved God, his family, his country, and his community. he was an active member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill and along with his wife worked for many years during camp meeting at the state campgrounds in Rippling Waters. He was proud of his service in the C.C.C. and was a World War II US Army veteran where he served in the Aleutians and later with O.S.S. Mr. Foster was a long time leader of Boy Scout Troop #118. For over 20 years he worked countless hours at the Oak Hill Swim Club and in recent years he and Velma were tireless workers in the Oak Hill High/Collins High Alumni Association. He swung a mean golf club and loved to hunt. Two brothers, Thomas and Tony Foster and two sisters, Maxine O'Dell and Maurine Powers preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Velma Spencer Foster; two sons Alfred W. Foster III and wife, Linda of Romney and Terry Foster and wife, Brenda of Scarbro; four grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. . Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Avenue First Church of God with Rev. Ralph Shupe and Rev. Richard Bradley officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. Friends may call two hours prior to the services Tuesday at the church. Family members Terry Lee Foster, Lloyd Foster, Joseph Foster, Ron Dawson, Michael Dawson, and Matthew Dawson will serve as pallbearers with Terry Foster III and Tyler Foster as honorary pallbearers.
