Wise Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come---GREETING: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a Survey made on the tenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and fifty five by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrants No.s 2181923053 & 23076 there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto James B. Brady a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing Two hundred and Thirty eight acres lying in Gilmer County, on the Left hand branch of the Crooked Fork of Steer Creek known by the name of the Cub fork and bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a poplar Corner to a survey of 166 acres claimed by said Brady & running Thence with one of his lines S.23 1/2.W.222 poles to a chestnut oak, a corner to same; Whence leaving said line N 65 W.66 poles crossing a branch, to a Chestnut oak Thence N.15.W.190 poles crossing a branch, to a maple & white oak; Thence N.55.E.82 poles, crossing Cub fork, to a black gum; Thence N.73.W.47 poles to a hickory; Thence N.27.E.40 poles to a beech and maple; Thence N.10.W.20 poles to a hickory; Thence N.20.E.40 poles to a beech on a line of lands surveyed for John Swan; Thence with said line S.40.W.222 poles crossing said Cub fork, to the beginning with its appurtenances TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said James B. Brady and his heirs forever. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said Henry A.
