He taught school three consecutive winters in Irish Corner district; graduated from Eastman National Business College at Poughkeepsie, N. Y. November 10, 1880, he entered the employ of Beury, Cooper & Co. as bookkeeper and store manager at Caperton, W. Va., and served nearly eight years. . He married Sallie R. Patton, youngest daughter of the late R. M. and Margaret (Level) Patton; elected sheriff of Fayette county in November, 1888, and served the term of four years to the entire satisfaction of all. His administration is pointed to yet with pride by the pople of Fayette. He moved into Irish Corner district in 1893, and has since given his energy and effort to the care of his farm and family; has four sons-Walter H., Thomas, Wheeler, and Frank-all successful business men, and one daughter, Miss Myrtle, at home. Mr. Boone is now the nominee of the Republican party for State Senator from this district, and it remains to be seen whether the Democratic party can defeat a man who has succeeded so well in whatever he has undertaken.
