Bowen Greenbrier County Bk 13 p. 165-166 1834 This indenture made this 7th day of May in the year of our Lord 1834 between A. Bowen of the County of Greenbrier of State of Virginia of the one part and Drew Johnston the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge twh granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Drew Johnston, a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Greenbrier in the south side of Greenbrier River the said tract containing 158 acres adjoining my own land and the land of John Walkup and Andrew Hamilton, dec. and bounded as followth to wit: Beginning at two white oaks in a flat near a clift of rocks corner to my own land thence with the same S16WI68 poles crossing a white oak comer to Samuel Walkup at 80 poles and running with Walkup's line to a gum and pine comer to Walkup SI7W114 to three white oaks in a flat by a road corner to James Hamilton thence with the same N66E86 poles to a red oak and white oak near a run in he edge of same brush thence leaving the same N29E306 poles crossing said run to a white oak and two red oaks on a flat ridge near a run and thence S77WI48 poles crossing a run to the beginning with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Drew Johnston and his heirs forever and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Johnston his heirs and assigns all my right title claims and interest to and of the above mentioned tract or parcel of land and will warrant and forever defend the same against myself, my heirs or any other person or persons laying any claim thereunto whatsoever.
