If you arrived here inside a frame or from a link from somewhere else, our front door is at http://www.usgwarchives.net/wv/wvfiles.htm Source: VA land Office Patents and Grants, BK 67, page 47, Greenbrier County James P Preston Esq Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to shom these presents shall come Greeting Know Ye that in conformity with a Survey made on the Seventh day of September 1817, in pursuance of an order of the County Court of Greenbrier and approved by said Court, there is Granted by the Said Commonwealth unto William McCoy, James McCoy, Andrew McCoy, Jane Raider, Alice Hanna, Nancy Miller, John McCoy and Moses McCoy Heirs at law of William McCoy Deceased A certain tract or parcel of Land Containing Four hundred and ninety four acres Situate in the County of Greenbrier on the waters of Sinking Creek joining the land of Charles Lewis dec'd and a Survey of 533 acres and one of 326 acres made for Said William McCoy, Dec'd, Wm. McCoy Jr. and David Williams which they are entitled to as follows To wit 363 acres parts thereof formerly granted to William McCoy now deceased by Grant bearing date the 11th day of December 1795 and 131 acres Surplus land within the bounds of the aforesaid Grant of 363 acres by Virtue of a Land Office Survey warrant Number 2724 issued the 17th day of August 1816 and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a black oak on a double Knot corner to Said Williams and Said Lewis and beginning corner to said patent of 363 acres and with the lines of Said Lewis's patent South Two hundred poles to a white Oak on a flat and leaving Lewis's; North twenty Degrees west fifty six poles to two white Oaks on a flat corner to Said McCoy 533 acres Survey, & with the same, North Twenty three Degrees west fifty Eight poles to two white Oaks on a ridge near a small hollow, North fifty Seven Degrees west One Hundred and Twenty poles to a white Oak bush on a Savanah on Said line corner to Said Wm McCoy Jr, and with his line North Seventeen degrees west one hundred and thirty poles to a white oak on a ridge by a fence and road, North three degrees West One Hundred and Thirty two poles crossing a Savanah to a white oak and two dogwoods near a fence, North eleven degrees East One Hundred and thirty poles to a large white Oak on a hill side near a fence corner to Said McCoys 326 acres Survey & with the same North thirty degrees East Seventy four poles to a white Oak in a Small Sink hole, North Eighty three degrees East forty eight poles to a large white Oak on a hill Side South sixty two degrees East One hundred and Twenty poles to a white Oak by a road on Said Williams line and thence with his line South one and a half degrees west three hundred and twenty four poles to the Beginning -- to have and to hold the Said Tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the Said William McCoy, James McCoy, Andrew McCoy, Jane Raider, Alice Hanna, Nancy Miller, John McCoy & Moses McCoy and their Heirs forever In witness whereof the said James P Preston Esq Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and Caused the lesser Seal of the Said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the first day of August in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen and of the Commonwealth of the forty-third.
