He had been in bad health for some time and of late had frequently shown signs of dementia. the day before his death, it is said, he had asked what was the easiest way to die, but it was not suspected that he harbored the intention of self destruction. On Tuesday morning he went to his barn, and with a pocket knife, cut his throat from ear to ear. A little while later his dead body was found in a pool of blood. Mr. Honaker was a quiet, industrious and useful citizen and was about 70 years of age. He had been for some time a member of the Dunkard Church. His tragic death has appalled and distressed his friends and family who fully realize that aberration of mind was responsible for his act. Mr. Honaker is survived by his wife, who had been a Miss Long, before her marriage. Two daughters, Mrs. Barton of New River Valley and Mrs. Andrew Riffe of this county, and two sons, E. A. Honaker, who resides in Summers County, while the other is a railroad man. He was a brother of Peter B. Honaker who resides near Union. He was a son of the late Jacob Honaker and Anna Sams Honaker, also from this county. His burial took place yesterday at Low Gap Church in Summers County, near New River. Rev. G. W. Hutchison conducted the service.
