Mr. Matheney was born April 11, 1894 in Sweet Springs, a son of the late Robert and Aneta Matheney. He was a retired railroad man and a veteran of World War I. He attended the Chruch of God on Tuckahoe Road. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leoda (Pettie) Matheney, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Baker, White Sulphur Springs; one brother Robert Matheny, Alleghany, VA; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Mitchell, Alleghany, VA and Mrs. Virgie Mundy of Belle and two grndsons. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Shanklin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gleason Dale and the Rev. W. J. Mullins officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arthur Baker, Dewey Kirk, Cary Kirk, --unfinished.
