CHRISTOPHER RUSK WALKUP

  It has pleased God, in his wisdom, to take from us our beloved 
father and grandfather, CHRISTOPHER RUSK WALKUP, who was born January 
2nd, 1838, and died January 13th, 1912.  We bow submissively to God's 
will, knowing "He doeth all things well."
  Mr. Walkup was twice married, his first wife being Virginia Correll, 
to this union six children were born, four of whom are left to mourn 
his death - Mrs. J. W. Beard, Mrs. E. F. Callison, J. J. and P. J. 
Walkup. His second wife was Miss Sallie Williams, who survives him.
  He was a friend to the friendless, a father to the fatherless, and 
loved by all who knew him, but words are vain, his life spoke for 
itself in his church and community.

We loved him, yes, we loved him.
   But he has gone above,
Where sorrow never enters,
   But all is peace and love.

   But our Savior loved him more,
So He gently called him
   To yonder shining shore.

   Bur our love would not detain
The spirit's silent messenger,
   Nor call him back again.
