Christopher R. Walkup died suddenly at his home near Spring Creek 
Station last Saturday morning, Jan. 13 1912, at 11 o'clock, of a pain 
in the region of the heart, aged 74 years and 11 days.  He was a 
member of the Presbyterian Church and lived and died in the faith.  In 
the war between the States, Mr. Walkup served his country as a soldier 
in the 14th VA Cavalry.
His was one of the most prominent families in Greenbrier and "Little 
Chris", as he was known in his community, was a good neighbor and a 
good citizen.
He leaves a wife and a number of children.
