I, Isaac Ballenger, of the County of Greenbrier and state of Virginia being of sound mind do make the following my last will and testament. First. I direct that my financial expenses and all my just debts shall be paid. 2nd I give to my beloved wife Polly Ballenger during her natural life all my lands, also my household & kitchen furniture to be used by her, for her support while she shall live. 3rd. I direct that my executor hereinafter named, shall after my decease sell all my personal property other than my household & kitchen furniture. The proceeds of which sale together with what money I may have on hand and all claims or debts coming to me shall pay as above named my funeral expenses just debts etc. Then I direct him to pay (so soon as he shall have made collections sufficient to enable him to do it) to my daughter Naoma one hundred dollars & to pay to my son Richard S. one hundred dollars which sums I give to my two children above named in order to make them equal with the other part of my family. Then I desire that the remainder of the proceeds of my personal property arising from said sale together with any other money arising from debts collected that may now be due me or otherwise shall be equally divided among all my children. 4th. I desire & direct that at the decease of my wife Polly Ballenger, that my executor if living otherwise the county court of Greenbrier County shall appoint some one in his place who shall after giving sufficient notice sell at public sale and on such credit as the said court may direct all my lands together with whatever household & kitchen furniture may be left at the decease of my wife and the proceeds of said sale I direct to be equally divided among all my children. Last. I desire that the Court shall appoint my friend Rufus Pack my executor & shall receive Lewis Ballenger & Lafayette Ballinger his securities. In testimony whereof I have hereinunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 3rd day of June 1854. In the presence of his Eli Ballenger Isaac X Ballenger Joseph Grimett mark Rufus Pack Greenbrier County Court July Term 1854 The last will and testament of Isaac Ballenger deceased was proved by the oaths of Eli Ballenger, Joseph Grimett and Rufus Pack, witnesses thereto and is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Rufus Pack the executor therein named who made oath thereto, and together with Lewis Ballenger, and Lafayette Ballenger his securities, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $4000 conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form.
