March 2, 1809 Greenbrier County Virginia In the name of God Amen. Know all men by those present, that I James McCoy Sr. of the County of Greenbrier and the State of Virginia, this day being sick but of a sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God, and calling to mind the uncertainty of the human life, and being disposed to dispose of all such worldly estates as God hath been pleased to bless me with. After the payments of my just debts and funeral expenses, I give unto and bequeath the same in the manner following. TO WIT: I give unto my lawful wife Mary McCoy, All my whole estate, both real and perishables, to her and her heirs forever, to use at her discretion. Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends, William Renick and Peter Blake executors of this, my last will and testament, where by all other will or wills heretofore by me made, are hereby revoked. In witness of this my last will and testament, I have hereunto LET my hand and affixed my seal, This Second Day of March in the year of our Lord 1809. James McCoy Sr. In the presence of us: John Flinn Thomas Miller Agnes Miller At a Court held for Greenbrier County on the 28th day of May, 1816, the last will and testament of James McCoy Dec'd, was presented in court, and lawful witnesses being sworn, deposes lawfully that they are well acquainted with the testor's hand writing and believe that the said will is the same. Will is ordered to be recorded. and upon the motion of Polly McCoy and Anthony Reader who made oath, and together with James Peebles and Lemuel Kincaid, their security entered into and acknowledged. and their bond in the penalty $2,000 construed as the law directs.
