I Philip Sydenstricker of the County of Greenbrier do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament - First I give and bequeath to my two sons John & Jacob the Plantation on which I reside to be divided agreeably to a conditional line which has been agreed on. I also give them my personal estate of every discription to be equally divided between them to them & their Heirs forever: But they are to pay to my son Philip four Hundred and seventy one Dollars and forty two cents and to my Daughter Elizabeth (Fleshman) four Hundred & seventy one dollars and forty two cents which is to be paid in The following manner each of them are to pay fifty dollars annually until the above legacies are discharged and it is my will that the payments be made in property at valuation. 2ndly I bequeath to my daughter Nancy a Tract of Land on the South side of Greenbrier River containing Three Hundred and forty acres during her natural Life and then to descend to her two sons Alexander and Cicero to them and their heirs forever- Having heretofore given to my sons Henry and David an equal proportion of my Estate they cannot expect more-- And Lastly, I hereby constituate [sic] my sons Philip & Jacob Executors of this my Last will & Testament-given under my hand & seal this 28th day of July 1833. Crane WILL Dated February 6, 1839 Recorded in Greenbrier Co., WV Will Book No. 2, at page 95 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT In the name of God Amen, I, Joseph S. Crane of Baltimore City in the State of Maryland being sick and weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of Death since the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form following that is to say, First and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my wife and after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows. I give and bequeath unto my wife Sarah Ann Crane for her benefit and her own children and my daughter by my former wife, Mary Jane, the farm known by the name of Mill Creek situated on Meadow River in Greenbrier County, State of Virginia, containing two hundred and twelve acres of land together with all the improvements thereon. I give and bequeath to my wife all the stock and household and kitchen furniture now on the above described farm or which may be thereon at the time of my decease. -1- I give and bequeath to my son Edward E. Crane one half of the Callison farm containing four hundred acres of land more or less, adjoining Mill Creek in Greenbrier County, State of Virginia. I give and bequeath the other half of said farm to Benjamin Zopp of Virginia. I give and bequeath to my son Wm. Henry Harrison Crane all the level land lying east, west and south from John McClung's farm adjoining the said farm. I give and bequeath to my son George Washington Crane all the level land commencing at Rock Camp running south and adjoining Jno. McClung's farm as above. I give and bequeath to my sons Joseph Crane, Benjamin Franklin Crane and James Amos Crane all the level land commencing at John Tuckers line and running to the Nicholas road known by the name of Laurel Creek Mountain in said County and State to be equally divided and share and share alike. I give and bequeath to my wife all the household and kitchen furniture of which I may be in possession of, (also my gold watch and wearing apparel) at the time of my decease. The rest of any land in Virginia not herein disposed of I devise to my children by my first wife to be equally divided, share and share alike and should any die before a division, the surviving children shall be entitled to the share of the deceased or any other property of which I may be in possession of not herein named since. -2- Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my Dear Wife Sarah Ann Crane Executrix of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made vilifying and confirming this and none other as my last will and testament. I, Robert McClintic of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia, considering the uncertainty of mortal life, and being of sound mind, and disposing memory (Blessed be almighty God for the same) do make & publish this, my last will & testament, in manner and form following (that is to say) Item lst I will to my much beloved wife Jane, my negro girl Alice America and her child called Fanny with Addison, and the of said America and Fanny, to her and her heirs forever, also one horse called Peter & one mare called Sal, three cows to be taken as her choice may direct her out of my stock of cattle, and all of my household & kitchen furniture, including beds, bedsteads, pot kettles, ovens, chests, trunks, clock, books, barrels casks, tubs to her & her heirs forever. Item 2nd To my son Robert & my wife Jane, I devise the tract of land on which I now live which said tract of land is made up of separate & distinct surveys. Towit, Beginning at a yellow by a fence on a line of the land purchased of William Blake 14 poles from a corner to Blakes deed & leaving the deeded line and running through said Blake survey and the survey he purchased of Margaret Lewis N 61 E 12 poles to two on a hill side & N 27 E 69 poles to a chestnut sapling on a hill side near a small hollow & N 12 E 42 poles to two small hickories on the point of a hill, near a fence & N 28 W 51 poles to a sugar tree and a cherry tree on a small bottom near tile bank of the.creek & N11 E 17 poles crossing the creek to a barpost the one that is fartherest from the corner of the garden, the other part of the bar stands at the corner of the garden & N 62 E 46 poles, running up a lane to a white oak in said lane near to a road & N 28 E 42 poles to a small crabtree & thornbush on a hill side by a fence near a barn & N 46 W 46 poles running through a field with a fence to three small crabtrees by a fence at the corner of a meadow & N 45 E 56 poles to a small elm and cherry tree by the corner of a fence & N 52 W 70 poles to a small walnut & forked white oak on a ridge near a fence & N28 E 27 poles to a white oak by a fence on a line of the poor house survey & with the line of the same to join Moses McClintic, line & with his line to join William McClintic & with his lines to join Moses McClintic & with the same to where he comes, on a line of said William Blakes deed,and with the lines of the said deed round to the beginning, all of that part of said tract of land which is on the right hand side of said line looking from the beginning or lowest down the creek (Culbertson) I give & bequeath to my said son Robert & his heirs forever, and all that part of said tract of land which lies on the left hand side of said line or highest up the creek, I give and bequeath to my said wife Jane during her natural life, also, to my son Robert & Jane (my wife) as above named. I devise, in like manner, to be equally divided,the tracts of land (including Hamilton's survey) called Wyate place, all that half laying on the lower part and connected with house (home?) place above described. I give and bequeath to my son Robert & his heirs forever and all that half lying on the uper part of said tract I give to my said wife Jane during her natural life, & after her death, my will & desire is that this together with the portion of land above named for her during her natural life. I direct and bequeath to my son Joseph and his heirs forever provided however that he should maintain the life of a sober man, if not, then, and in that event, I devise and this my will is; that the land above named, intended for my son, said, Joseph, at the death of my said wife Jane, shall be equally divided between all the children of my said son Joseph and to their heirs forever. Item 3rd Having given already in hand, to my sons Alexander & Archibald McClintic proportions with my other children, I desire and request and will to each the sum of ten dollars. Item 4th Also to my son Robert, I give and bequeath my yellow boy named George, and girl named Letty and her child Clary and their increase to him and his heirs forever. Item 5th To my son Moses, I give and bequeath my negro boy named John to him his heirs forever. Item 6th To my son Joseph, I give & bequeath my negro boy named Edmond, to him & his heirs forever. Item 7th To my sons Moses and Robert McClintic (hereafter appointed my Executors) I leave in trust and full control my negro girls Lucy and her two children named Nelly & Letty also Venice and her children Mary Ellen & Tippet to be for the use and comfort of my daughter Nancy Beard during her natural life, and after her death my will and desire is that said negroes be divided among her children as follows, to Jane Beard I give and bequeath the girl named Nelly, to Mary Beard the girl named Letty, and to Ailsy Beard, I give and bequeath the girl named Mary Ellen and to them and heirs forever, and the remaining above named and their increase to be divided among her daughters as she may choose. Item 8th To my daughter Sally Price, I give and bequeath my negro girl Sally & her increase to her and her heirs forever. Item 9th To my grand daughter Jane Mann, I give and bequeath the girl named Fanny with her increase to her and heirs, forever. Item 10th To my grand daughter Elizabeth Jane, daughter of my son Robert McClintic, I give and bequeath the girl Racheal and increase to her and her heirs forever. Item llth and after the death of my wife.Jane, with her consent, I give and bequeath all the slaves (not otherwise disposed of by her) to my son Joseph McClintic. Item 12th I give and bequeath to my wife Jane, and my son Robert McClintic jointly, my boy named Tyree, during the natural life of her, my wife Jane, and after her death, I give said slave Tyree to William McClintic to him and his heirs forever. Item 13th The residue of my estate not herein disposed of. It is my will that same be sold and applied to the payment of my just debts by my Executors hereafter named and surplus, if any, to be equally divided between my sons Robert & Joseph McClintic. Item 14th Lastly, I do hereby constitute & appoint my sons Robert & Moses McClintic Executors, of this my last will and testament, and hereby revoking all former wills made by me. Thirdly I wish all My honest debts to be paid out of the proceeds of My property.
