Biographical Sketches of Hancock County: John Bisman: cabinet maker, Fairview, was born in Bavaria, Germany, March 8, 1831, and emigrated to America, landing at New Orleans in 1848, where he remained a few months, and then removed to Pittsburgh, Pa., living in that city four years working at his trade. Was married to Miss Rebecca Berris, a resident of Somerset County, Pa. In 1852, he moved to Fairview and engaged as a journeyman a short time, and then purchased his employers shop, continuing the business ever since. He has a family of two boys and two girls.
