Biographical Sketches of Hancock County: Thomas Chapman: a son of George, was born near New Cumberland, upon the land secured by his father, in the year 2786. This large tract of land was divided equally between the children, and Thomas received a hundred and sixty acres. He followed farming during his life time. He was the father of ten children, six boys and four girls. On the 3d of July, 1845, he "passed away like one falling into a peaceful sleep."
