Biographical Sketches of Hancock County: Alexander Edie: a son of John Edie, deceased, was born on the farm where he is now living, in Clay District, now Hancock County, West Virginia, in 1803. He was reared a farmer and followed that as his vocation during life. His education was that obtained in the common schools of his minority days. He married Margaret Moore, daughter of Thomas and Mary Moore, in 1823. They settled on the farm where they are now living. They reared a family of ten children -- Thomas, John, Abraham, William, Harrison, Samuel, Alexander, Lydia, Sarah J. and Rebecca. He is still living and enjoying good health for one of his age.
