Marshall: prosecuting attorney, was born near Fairview in 1827. Was the son of John Marshall. Went to high school in that place, under the tutorship of Profs. Silverthorn and Moore. Taught school from the year 1847 to 1849. Married Miss L. Miller in 1849. Elected to the office of commissioner of the revenue in the same year, serving in that capacity eight years, during which time he began reading law under O. W. Langfitt, Esq., of Wellsburg. Was admitted to practice December 1859. Went into partnership with his preceptor that year, continuing thus until 1865. Been elected to the office of prosecuting attorney of Hancock County four times, and is now filling that office, which term expires in 1860. Has been engaged in his legal profession for eighteen years.
