Biographical Sketches of Hancock County: John Scott: a son of the above, was born in 1791, and came with his parents to Hancock County in 1802. He followed farming with his father until he reached manhood, and after his marriage in 1813, to Miss Sarah Stewart, he settled on his father's old home farm, where they remained during life, with the exception of about five years. He reared a family of four children-- Mary, John, James C. and George. John is deceased, Mary is living in Ohio, George is in the ministry in Pennsylvania, and James C. is living on the old homestead. Our subject was married twice--his first wife died in 1839. His second wife, Jane Wallace, whom he married in 1840, died on the 7th of August, 1875, and he followed in November, 1877.
