BRAD ADAMCZYK Weirton, WV-- Brad Henry Adamczyk, 38, of Weirton died Thrusday, Jan 22, 1998, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 31, 1959, in Weirton. He was the operations manager at the Steubenville Kmart with 20 years of service. He was Catholic by faith. Surviving are his wife, Janet Walker Adamczyk; a son, Jacob Adamczyk of Weirton; a daughter, Tara Adamczyk of Weirton; his mother and father, Henry and Valeria mark Adamczyk of Weirton; and three brothers, Brian and Brent, both of Weirton and Bruce of Seattle, Wash. LESTA BIAS ADKINS Newell, WV-- Lesta Bias Adkins, 83, formerly of Newell, died on Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at the Weirton Geriatric Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Huntington, WV, on June 26, 1914, a daughter of the late Ed Berry and Sophie Bias. A retired employee of Waterford Park, she was a Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Hancock County Senior Center and the Newell American Legion Auxiliary Post 114. she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Adkins; two sons, Pearlie E. and Shirley Glen Atkins; and three stepchildren, Donald "Jack" Adkins, Mary Ellen "Mert" Milhoan and Juanita "Tom" Ward. She is survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. The Rev. Charles Andrews conducted services on Wednesday at Nixon Funeral Home in Newell. Burial was held at Locust Hill Cemetery. HILDA A. ALLISON East Liverpool, OH-- Services will be held this morning for Hilda A. Allison, 92, of the Nentwick Convalescent Home, who died at 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at the home following a four-year illness. She was born in East Liverpool March 18, 1905, a daughter of the late Fred and Clara Settig Goppert. She worked with her family at the former Allison Grocery Store in Chester. Earlier, she was employed at the former Taylor, Smith and Taylor Pottery. A 50 year member of the Gairview Grange, she also was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Church Women; Crescent Chapter 49, Order of Eastern Star; Newell Rebekah Lodge 74; Hancock Homemakers Extension Group; Auxiliary to American Legion Post 121; and Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450. Her husband, John Allison, did in 1960. A son, Walter Allison died in 1996. She is survived by a son, George A. Allison of Chester; two daughters, Alma Caughey of Campbell, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Kate) Barker of Calcutta; a sister, Sara Stoffel of Chester; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. ALLISON --Chester-- Services will be held Thursday for Margaret L. Allison, 88, of the Adkins Nursing Home, formerly of Chester, who died at 10:15 p.m. Monday March 18, 1997, at City Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Newell May 25, 1909, a dauthter of the late Homer C. and Lavada Williams Seevers. A lifelong resident of the Tri-State Area, she was a member of the Newell United Methodist Church, Dames of Malta and Rebecca Lodge of Chester. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank M. Allison, whom she married May 25, 1928; two sisters, Helen Adams and Dorothy Jean Seevers; and tow brothers, Glenn Seevers and Dick Seevers. she is survived by a brother, James Seevers of Hilliard, Ohio; a niece and several nephews. A resident of Florida since 1992, Mrs. Allison was formerly employed as an interior decorator. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Pauline Townsend of Orlando, FL, and Minnabel Lott of MD; a brother, Floyd Gievell of Mount Dora, FL; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild. DELIA MAE BAINBRIDGE New Cumberland, WV-- Delia Mae Bainbridge, 82, of Meadowood Drive died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997 at Weirton Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Gutherie, KY, Sept. 23, 1915, a daughter of the late Lon and Manie Robinson Holland. She was amember of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 3 in New Smyrna Beach, FL. She attended Point Pleasant United Methodist Church. Her husband, William Bainbridge, died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Bevery Wern, who died in 1995 and a sister, Mary Hanlin. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Joyce) Rzepka of New Cumberland, with whom she resided, and Mrs. James (Florence) Carson of Caracas, Venezuela; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was born in East Liverpool Jan. 16, 1944, a daughter of Mildred Hickman Emmerling of East Liverpool and the late Harry Emmerling. A lifelong resident of the Tri-State Area, she was a mutual clerk at the Mountaineer Race Track and Resort since 1971. She also was active in the Friendly Lanes Bowling League. He was born in St. Marys, WV, August 1, 1907, a son of the late Martin and Mary E. Buchanan Barnhart. An area resident most of his life, he worked as a truck driver at Homer Luughlin China Co. for 31 years. He was a protestant. WILBUR SELDON BEBOUT Chester-- Wilbur Seldon Bebout, 88, of Louisiana Avenue died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997, at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness. He was born in Chester April 27, 1909, a son of the late Thomas and Harriet Lewis Bebout. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Bebout was employed as a truck driver with the former TS&T Pottery for 32 years before retiring in 1971. He was a member of the House of Prayer in Calcutta and instrumental in the construction of the church. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Franklin Bebout; three brothers, Harry, Charles and Archie Bebout; and a sister, Ethel Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Eugenia L. Newlun Bebout, whom he married Aug. 27, 1930; two sons, Clifford Bebout of Newell, and Donald Bebout of San Angelo, TX; four daughters, Mrs. George (Kathlene) Smith of Tucson, AZ, Mrs. Carl (June) Gatrell of East Liverpool, and Linda Thompson and Mrs. John (Kay) Starr of Chester; 20 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren. He was born in Wellsville March 25, 1921, the son of the late Ernest and Mable Grim Blake. A retired crane repairman with the strip steel department of the Weirton Steel Corp., Mr. Blake was a member of the plant's 25-Year Club. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Weirton. A brother, Ernest Blake, Jr., preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Alma E. ROBERT RAY BLANKENSHIP Paris, PA-- Robert Ray Blankenship, 65, of Paris, PA, died at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born in Middlebourne, WV, the son of the late Anna Jordan Blankenship and Harold R. Blankenship. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Weirton and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He also is a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2716, Weirton, where he was a past commander from 1977-1978. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 10, Weirton, and B.P.O.E., Weirton Elks Lodge No. 1801, Weirton, and a former Washington County Democratic Committeeman of Hanover Township for Precinct No. 2. He also was a member of the Fort Vance Historical Society, Burgettstown, PA; 25-Year Club at Weirton Steel Company, Weir-Cove Chapter of A.A.R.P. No. 3846, Weirton. He retired after 41 years as a die maker in the Materialization Department at the Half Moon Industrial Park, Weirton. MARGE KONTNIER BROWN Wellsville--Marge Kontnier Brown, 81, of Main Street died at 10:31 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, at City Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Chester July 12, 1916, a daughter of the late Harry Camden Logan and Mary Frances Knapp Logan Winters. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Irondale Nazarene Church. Her first husbanc, Frank Ore Kontnier, whom she married Dec. 1, 1931, died May 22, 1968. Her second husband, Clarence "Bus" Brown, whom she married April 10, 1970, died July 30, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Chester Logan, and tow sisters, Dorothy Pallis and Gertrude Brown. She is survived by a son, Karl L. "Butch" Kontnier of East Liverpool, a stepson, Robert W. Brown of Beloit; a sister, Mrs. Rev. Clarence (Maxine) Pelly of Glenmoor; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Cain, 80, of RD 1, New Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at his residence. He was born January 31, 1917, in Chester, a son of the late Harley and Ruthe Ann (Scott) Cain. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Alvin Cain. He was a retired foreman from the Weirton Steel Corporation strip steel hot mill with 37 years of service, and a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. He was a Wold War II veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps and a Presbyterian by faith. He is survived by his wife, Jean Krukowski Cain, whom he married June 4, 1949; tow sons, John of Pittsburgh, PA, and Kenneth of Dundee, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. George (Marsha) Naymick of Weirton; and seven grandchildren. GEORGE CAMPBELL Weirton, WV-- GEORGE CAMPBELL, FORMER PRINCIPAL, DEAD AT AGE 91 George Henry Hammond Campbell, 91, of Weirton died Friday, Jan 23, 1998. He was born on Sept. 18, 1906, in Weirton, a son of the late Charles and Ora Shimer Campbell. He also was preceded in death on Jan. 5, 1979, by his first wife, Sara Jean Wilkinson Campbell, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1932. He also was preced in death by four brothers, Leslie, Wayne, Harold and an infant brother. He was a member and elder of the Cove United Presbyterian Church in Weirton. He was a retired principal at Liberty Elementary School and had previously taught fifth grade at the school. He also was a junior high school teacher at Cove School. He graduated from the West Liberty State Teachers College and received his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a former volunteer for Meals On Wheels and was a retired board member of the Mary H. Weir Public Library. He was a retired member of the Photography Club of Steubenville and a former member of the Pisstburgh Astronomy Club. Surviving are his second wife, Zelma Leora Dye Campbell, whom he married on June 14, 1980; a son Richard, of Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Alice Casella of Anderson, SC; and two grandchildren. He was born in Pittsburgh July 4, 1921, a son of the late Michael and Carmello Rizzo Caprino. He was a trainer of thoroughbred horses about 26 years at Mountaineer Race Track and Resort with his wife. He was a member of the Horsemen's Benevolent Protection Association. He attended the House of Prayer in Calcutta. He is survived by his wife, Beda Sbuscio Caprino, whom he married July 15, 1943; two daughters, Beda Caldwell of Pittsburgh and Mr. Keith (Bonnie) Ruley of Newell; a brother, Frank Caprino of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Chambers was employed 42 years with the No. 9 Tandem Mill of the Weirton Steel Corp. before retiring. He was a horse trainer for 27 years. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Point Pleasant United Methodist Church, Weirton Steel 25-Year Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3526 of New Cumberland. PATRICK ALVIN CLUTTER Wheeling, WV--Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday for Patrick Alvin Clutter, 46, of Poplar Avenue, formerly of Chester, who died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at Wheeling Hospital. He was born in East Liverpool, July 2, 1951, a son of Alvin B. and Bonnie L. Morgan Clutter of Wheeling. From 1993 to 1995, he was the news director at WTRF-TV Wheeling. Earlier, he was a news broadcaster and air personality with WWVA/WOVK Radio from 1973-1985; and a news reporter and sports reporter and anchor with WTRF-TV Wheeling from 1985 through 1993. He was an instructor of radio and television at Wheeling Park High School from 1976 until his death. He was a 1969 graduate of Oak Glen High School and recieved his bachelor's degree in speech and English at West Liberty State College in 1973. In 1975, he graduated from Marshall University with his master's degree in radio and television communication. He was a member of the board of directors at The Salvation Army and board of directors of St. John's Home. He was a member of the OVAC Foundation and the OVAC Publicity, Ohio County Parent-Teacher Association and was past president of the Ohio County American Cancer Society. He was a volunteer with YMCA youth activities and the Ohio County Sports Assoiciation. He received numerous awards including the Ambassador Award for the Wheeling Area Soccer Association, the President's Award from Switzerland of Ohio Lions Club and an award for valuable service to the Upper Ohio Valley United Way Organization. He was voted Teacher of the Year in 1992, Coach of the Year in 1980 and 1983 in West Virginia, OVAC Coach of the Year in 1980, 1983 and 1985, most outstanding broadcasting student in 1975 at Marshall University, most outstanding senior student in 1973 at West LIverty State College, Who's Who Among American College and University Students in 1972 and 1973 and several awards from the Ohio County PTA for educational merits while teaching broadcasting in Ohio County Schools. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Angeline Chiazza Clutter, at home; a son, Patrick Ryan Clutter, at home; two daughters, Christine Nicole Clutter and Kelly Michelle Clutter, at home; two brothers, Michael J. Clutter of East Liverpool and Martin W. Clutter of Chester; a sister, Candice L. Clutter-Smith of Monroeville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Braxton City, WV, Feb 27, 1911, a son of the late James and Amanda Pullins Gillespie. An area resident since 1949, Mr. Gillespie was employed as a laborer with the Homer Laughlin China Co. before retiring in 1974 with 26 1/2 years of service. He was a Methodist and an honorary member of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Gae Gregory Gillespie, whom he married on Dec. 20, 1931; a daughter, Joyce Clark of New Cumberland; four sons, Kenneth Gillespie of Newell, Jackie Lee Gillespie of New Cumberland, Donnie Leon ?Gillespie of Flatwoods, WV, and Gary Gillespie of Sutton, WV; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Austin Gillespie, who died Sept. 22, 1964; three sister, Thelma Gibson, Lula Tinnel and Nellie Morrison; and five brothers, Arthur, Boone, Harrison, Mood and Walter Gillespie. ROGER EUGENE GIVENS SR. New Cumberland, WV--Roger Eugene Givens Sr., 43, of RD2 New Cumberland died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997 at City Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in East Liverpool March 27, 1954, a son of Dolly C. "Tiny" Mossor Givens of New Cumberland and the late Sidney E. Givens. He was a tugboat pilot on the river docks at Weirton STeel Corp. He was a member of the New Cumberland Free Methodist Church and a former member of the Odd Fellows. Besised his mother, he is survived by two sons, Roger E. Givens Jr. and Janson N. Givens and four sisters, Mrs. Steve (Rhonda) Knicely, Mrs. Jerry (Anita) Hines, Mrs. Charles (Tina) Groves and Mrs. Tim (Lisa) Turley, all of New Cumberland. The Rev. Charles Thomas and the Rev. Glasure, 86, of Colliers, who died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at the residence of her granddaughter, Debra McPeek. She was born in Morgantown, WV, July 28, 1911, a daughter of the late James and Linnie Donley Clear. A homemaker, Mrs. Glasure was a retired employee of Beeline Clothing. She was a member of the Cove United Presbyterian Church in Weirton and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge in Colliers. Her husband, Floyd Glasure, Sr. died in 1995. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Linnie Mae Biondillo, who died in 1975, and Donna Lowther, who died in 1992, two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by two sons, Donald and Floyd Glasure, Jr. of Weirton; four daughters, Josephine Richards of Colliers, Mrs. Robert (Gerri) DiCiccio of Follansbee and Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Ballato and Mrs. Joe (Myrtle) Szuch of Weirton; a sister, Elaine Beagle of Carrollton, Ohio; 31 Grancchildren, 51 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. GREGORY Fair Oaks, CA-- Services wil be held Saturday for Kathryn E. Gregory, 83, of Fair Oaks, formerly of Chester, who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, following a brief illness. She was born in Morgantown, WV, May 3, 1914, a daughter of the late L.V.a dn Bertha Gidel Keck. She graduated from Morgantown High School and West Virginia University. She taught at Chester Jr. High and Oak Glen High School from 1961-1976. She was a member of the Rancho Codova Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester, the Chester Garden Club, the Chester Women's Club and Crescent Chapter, Oredr of the Eastern Star. A resident of Chester since 1935, she moved to California in 1986. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gregory, who died in 1960; and a brother, L.V. Keck III. She is survived by two sons, Doug Gregory of Sun City West, Ariz., and Robert Gregory of Fair Oaks, CA; two daughters, Jean Pritchett of Fair Oaks, CA, and Ann Griss of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Griffith, 60, of Chester, died Wednesday, January 21, 1998, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born in Beverly, WV, August 15, 1937, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Lenola Teter. She was retired from National Church Supply. She also worked at Bellofram Refactories. She was a Protestant by faith. She is survived by a daughter, Tonya Rambo of Chester; a grandson whom she raised, Josh Rambo, of Chester; three brothers, Eugene Cooper of Aliquippa, PA, James Whaley of Clarksburg, WV, and Gaylord Whaley of VA; and a sister, Helen Yoakum of Beverly. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, Isaac Cooper, and a sister, Analee Cooper. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell.
