She was born in Buckhannon, W. Va., Dec. 3, 1942, a daughter of Retha Collins Brown of Hookstown and the late Harry Brown. She graduated from South Side High School. She was a member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau, the Hancock County 4-H advisory Board, the Tri-State Environmental Group, Lets Improve Our Valley Environment (L.I.V.E.) and Save Our County (S.O.C.) She is survived by her husband, Elbert Allison, at home; a son, Douglas Allison of Chester; a daughter, Denise Allison, at home; two brothers, Basil Brown of Hookstown and Rex Brown of Diana, W.Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Pearl) Jordan of Hookstown, Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Myers of Cleveland, W.Va., and Mrs. John (Ellen) Gibson of Green Springs, Ohio; and a grandson. She was preced in death by a sister, Ruth Moats; and her step-father, Lester Brown. The Rev. J. David Sumner and the Rev. Armstrong, 73, died at his home, near Chester, Saturday afternoon following a stroke of papalysis which he suffered about a week ago. He was associated with his son W. R. Armstrong in the Hancock County Coal Co., of near Chester. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Olive (Triplett) Armstrong; three other sons, William, of Belington, WV, Swaze and Lawrence of Chester; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Foley and Mrs. Carrie Foley of Belington, WV; one brother Isaac and two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Hill and Mrs. Verna Fitzwater of Belington, WV. Funeral services will be held in the Arner funeral home in Chester, tonight at 7 in charge of Rev. W. T. McKee, former pastor of the Chester Presbyterian Church. The body will be taken to Belington, WV for burial Tuesday. CHARLES E. BEAVER -Born May 12, 1899 Died August 13, 1964 New Cumberland--Charles Edward Beaver, 65 of Holbert Run, died this morning at Weirton General Hospital, following a short illness. He was the son of the late Harvey and Tena Beaver. He was a member of the Christian Church. BURCHETT Chester-- Services will be held Sunday for William H. Burchett, 69, of Fairview Road, who died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, May 29, 1998, at home of cancer. He was born in Prestonsburgh, KY, September 27, 1928, a son of the late Jake and Pearlie Steveson Burchett. He was employed 30 years in the TOC department at the former Crucible Steel Co. He was a veteran of service with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Marie Givens Burchett; and two brothers, Robert Burchett and Curt Burchett. ANNA MARIE BYARD Lemon Grove, Claif. -- Services will be held Friday for Anna Marie Byard, 51, of Lemon Grove, who died Monday, June 8, 1998, at home. She was born in New Cumber- land May 27, 1947, a daughter of Murray Deeter of San Diego and the late Anna Marie Albis Deeter. A resident of Lemon Grove 46 years, she was a homemaker and self employed 33 years. Besides her father, she is survived by her husband, James M. Byard, at home; a son, James Martin Byard of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Mrs. Philip (Anna Marie) Theimer of Arizona, and Andrea Hageman and Katie Byard of San Diego; two brothers, Henry Deeter and Sam Deeter of San Diego; six foster children and two granddaughters. JAMES DANIEL CHEUVRONT Chester--James Daniel Cheuvront, 73,of Alba Avenue died Sunday, March 22, 1998 at the Beaver Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Wewanna, W. Va., Aug. 16, 1924, a son of the late Fred Daniel and Francis Ethel Stewart Cheuvront. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Cheuvront was employed as a crew leader with the former Celotex Corp. before retirement. He attended Chester schooles. He was a member of the Chester-Newell Sprotsmans Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars. He was a Nazarene. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mildred Warrick Cheuvront, at home; two sons, Wallace Cheuvront of Baden, Pa., and Herbert Cheuvront of Chester; four daughters,Mrs. James (Catherine) Reed and Mrs. Fred (Brenda) Hull of East Liverpool; Shirley Cheuvront of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Charles (Jean) Kirkpatrick of Fall, W. Ferguson, 69, of Plutus Avenue died Monday, May 18, 1998 in a Muscatine, Iowa hospital after suddenly becoming ill. He was born in Chester September 27, 1928, a son of the late Otmer W. and Elizabeth Eller Vervin Ferguson. A lifetime area resident, he was em- ployed with New Image Transport. He graduated from Chester High School. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Pauline Boggs Ferguson, who died in 1966, and his second wife, Selma A. Hineman Ferguson, who died in 1997. He is survived by two sons, William W. Ferguson of San Diego, Calif., and Brian C. Stroud of Chester; four daughters, Mrs. Barry (Pam) Klein of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Willard (Kathryn Lynn) Pickin of East Liverpool, Jill Lynn Hawthorn of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Stephen (Deana Lee) Biddle of Dunbar, W. HAROLD M. FINKBEINER Alliance, Ohio-- Harold M. Finkbeiner, 87, of Alliance, Ohio, formerly of Newell, died Saturday, June 6, 1998, at the Horizon Meadows Nursing Home. He was born April 6, 1911, in swissvale, Pa., a son of the late Sessley and Hazel Demoth Finkbeiner. Mr. Finkbeiner served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed 16 years with the Edwin M. Knowles Pottery. He also worked 16 years in security with the Homer Laughlin China Co. He was a Protestant. His wife, Grace V. Smith, died in 1975. Burial will be in Toronto,Ohio. ROY E. HART CHESTER--Roy E. Hart, 69, of Chester died Wednesday October 25, 1995, at the Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville following a brief illness. He was born in Chester March 18, 1926, a son of the late J. Emmett and Agness M. Eichler Hart. A lifelong resident of the Chester area, he served 10 years as Chester Municipal Judge and was an elected member of the Grant District Democratic executive committee at the time of his death. He also was co-caretaker at Locust Hill Cemetery. He served as Justice of the Peace in Newell WV from 1968 to 1972. He also was co-founder and former partner of Hart Excavating, now known as Bill Hart Excavating, and owned and operated an auto salvage business. He was labor union president during employment at Patterson Industries and at the Homer Laughlin China Co. He also was a part-time employee in security at Waterford Park Horse Race Track. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a protestant, and was a member of American Legion Post 121 and Disabled American Veterans Post 47. He is survived by his wife, Joan L. Hart, whom he married in 1955; three sons, Robert L. Hart of St. Marys, WV, and William E. Hart and John P. Hart of Chester; two daughters, Mrs Larry (Barbara) Beardshall and Mrs. David (Martha) Miller of Chester; three sisters, Mrs. Bearl (Georgana) Williams of Calcutta, Mrs Bill (Pearl) Ash of East Liverpool and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Simballa of Lisbon; and seven grandchildren. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. A Protestant, he was a member of the Chester American Legion Post 121 and the International Brotherhood of Potters and Allied Workers, and a life member of the Chester Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450. She was born in England January 18, 1902, a daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth Mandley Smith. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Matthews Episco- pal Church and a charter member of the Chester Golden Agers Club. Her husband, Frank Mader, Sr., whom she married March 1, 1921, died April 9, 1967. She was born in Chester June 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Charles A. and Martha I. Bondurant Steele. She lived in Sugarland for 12 years moving from Chester. She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. Her husband, William P. Myers, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Julian B. Steele; and two sisters, Sarah Izetta Johnson and Alice Elizabeth Grant. She is survived by a daughter, Sallie E. Lincoln of Sugarland; two sons, William P. He was born in Georgetown, Sept. 2, 1933, a son of the late M. Wayne and Florence Bell Stewart. He was employed at the former St. Joe Minerals in Monaca, PA. A member of Hookstown Grange 1980 many years, he was an honorary member of the Hookstown Fair Board. He also was a member of the Tomlinson Run Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Doughty Stewart at home, three sons, Charles W. Stewart of New Cumberland, Richard H. Stewart of Ohioville and Russell D. Stewart of Georgetown; a daughter, Mrs. Bud (Elaine) Cox of New Cumberland; four brothers, John Stewart of Hookstown and James Stewart, Bernard Stewart, and William Stewart of Georgetown; a sister, Dorothy Scott of Georgetown, a stepmother, Nina Moore Stewart of Georgetown; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Stewart and Gene Stewart; and two sisters, Betty Reed and Eileen Stewart. Evangelist Owen Thomas will conduct the services at 1 p.m. at the Welch Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today. DR.JACK D. TAYLOR FORMER CHESTER TEACHER DIES a well liked former Chester resident was claimed April 24, 1974 after suffering from a coronary on April 22. He was living at 9101 W. Sample Rd, Coral Springs, FL. Dr. Taylor graduated from the former Chester High School in 1937 then entered the Army for a couple of years. He received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education from West Virginia University, Morgantown, then becoming a member of the faculty at WVU. Returning to his hometown, Taylor taught at Chester High School from 1949-1957 teaching English, Speech, History and took a part in coaching the athletic teams of the school. Being admired for his inerest in the teachers, he served as president of the Hancock County Education Association for several years. Not only was his life devoted to the students and teachers of the county, he was also active in community affairs. He was a member of the Lions Club and an Elder of the United Presbyterian Church of Chester. Dr. Taylor went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida ten years ago and served as Dean of Administration for Ft. Lauderdale University and Dean of Studies and Acting President of Broward (? can't read Erin's word) Community College. At the time of his death, he was Director of Administration of SEED (a drug rehabilitation program)in Ft. Lauderdale. Survivors include his wife Lois, three daughters Mrs. (Sondra) Furbee of Tallahassee, Fl, Valeria Taylor of Tallahassee and Althea Taylor of Coral Springs; a brother Harold Taylor of Weirton; three sisters, Mrs. Helene Garee of Minerva, Ohio, Mrs. Alice Ward of Toronto, Ohio, Mrs. Evelyn Springer of New Cumberland, and one grandchild. CHARLES LINN TROOP New Cumberland-- Services will be held Tuesday for Charles Linn Troop, 91, of New Cumberland, who died Saturday May 30, 1998, at City Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 2, 1906, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John Linn and Lida Mary Bunner Troop. A self-employed farmer, Mr. Troop was a member of the Nessley Chapel Church. A sister, Martha H. He was found dead at his home Monday at about 6 p.m. Mr. Waite was born in Tyrone, PA, May 29, 1895, the son of the late Millard and Georgia Anne Waite, and had lived in Chester for 33 years. He was a retired conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. with 44 years service. He retired in 1960. He was a member of the Chester church, Odd Fellows Lodge of Chester, and the BRT Local 685. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Mae Kautz Waite, at home; nine sons, Ralph L. Waite of Weirton, Robert F., Raymond E., Richard L., Russell M., and Ronald M. all of East Liverpool, OH, Paul M. of Wellsville, OH, Roger K. of Washington, D.C., and Randy P. of Miami, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Pete (Katherine) Rowe and Mrs. Eva Beresford, both of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Jess Roberts of Philadelphia, 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
