Swaney Succumbs Mon. Niles, Oh. Dr. Charles T. Swaney, 79, a former New Cumberland, West Virginia, resident, died Monday at noon in his home in Niles. He had been in failing health for some time and had suffered a heart attack at the time of his death. Born January 15, 1871, the son of Thomas and Mary Atkinson Swaney, he was a native of New Cumberland and spent his early years there. He studied medicine and set up practice in Niles, returning Frequently to visit his friends in New Cumberland. He retained membership in the Presbyterian Church of New Cumberland and was a director of the New Cumberland Cemetery Association. Dr. Swaney retired some years ago from active practice to own and manage a steel fabricating company in Niles. His wife, Grace Hayes Swaney, preceded him in death. Surviving are a cousin in New Cumberland, Mrs. Nora Marshall, and nieces and nephews in the vicinity of Niles. The body was removed to New Cumberland today (Thurs.), at 11 a.m. where it lay in state in the Presbyterian Church until funeral services at 1 p.m. Rev. W. H. Flurkey officiated.
