WILKINS CEMETERY, Lost River, Hardy County, WV Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives November 18, 2001 by James Funkhouser < j.a.funkhouser@worldnet.att.net > ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The inscriptions in this cemetery were transcribed in December 1967. The cemetery was located approximately one mile from Lost River on the Kimsey's Run Road and about one-half mile south of the road. The farm had once belonged to Joseph Wilkins (died 1839) and at the time of the transcription was owned by a Mathias family. This cemetery and the old Kimsey's Run Road are now submerged beneath the reservoir of the Kimsey's Run dam. A few of the stones, including the Robertson stones, were removed to the Mennonite Community Cemetery on West Virginia route 259 south of Mathias. Ruth and Chelsea Dinn published photographs of the Robertson gravestones in an addendum to the Robertson-Hamilton History and Genealogy (1976), a copy of which is in the Brownstown, Indiana, Public Library. A. Wilkins is Archibald son of Joseph Wilkins. =============================================================== "In memory of Nancy ROBERTSON who departed this life in the 21st day of Oct. in the year of our Lord 1807 in the 30 year of her age."
