BAER THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, May 1, 1996 James Percy Baer, 90, Fort Seybert, WV, and formerly of W. Va. Pulp and Paper, Sawyer and Baker, died Sunday, April 28, 1996, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Mr. Baer was born July 14, 1905, in Tyrone, PA, and was the son of the late Clara Osborne and James Percy Baer. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church. Survivors include his wife, Lena Beulah Nesselrod Baer; two daughters, Nancy J. Wimer, Harrisonburg, and Helen Kuykendall, Fort Seybert, WV; one son, David Allen Baer, Harrisonburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Revs. Earl Delp and Lloyd Hartzler conducted the funeral Wednesday, at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, Fort Seybert. Burial was in the Nesselrodt family cemetery, Fort Seybert. Born on May 18, 1915 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he was the son of Albert S. Bailey and Louise (Brent) Bailey, both of whom are deceased. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by one son, Albert Mikell. He was a retired owner and operator of Paul B. Bailey Lumber Company and Joy Centers; a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, Moorefield Lions Club, LOOM #358 of Moorefield, Elks Lodge of Huntington, WV; Wednesday Evening Prayer Group and served in Mississippi and West Virginia National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Coker Bailey of Moorefield; three daughters, Ann B. Rhodes of St. Louis, MO, E. Frances Murphy of LaVale, MD; and Elizabeth B. Thomas of Stephens City, VA; one daughter-in-law, Joy Pratt Bailey of Moorefield; two sisters, Olive B. Blalock of Mobile, AL; Lydie B. BAKER THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, July 31, 1996 Curtis "Bud" G. Baker, age 82, of Wardensville, WV, died Thursday, July 25, 1996 at Winchester Medical Center. Born Jan. 15, 1914 in Wardensville, WV, he was a son of the late William and Daisy Cline Baker. Mr. Baker was a retired truck driver with Allegheny Freight Lines and was a 1934 graduate of Handley High School. She was born January 19, 1914 in Hardy County, WV and was the daughter of the late Walter Earle and the late Rebecca (Houdershell). She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Baldwin in August 1989; one brother, two sisters; and two half-brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Riggleman of Moorefield; four grandchildren, Mrs. Brenda Skubis of Fairmont WV, Karen Franks of Charlerois, PA, Becky Riggleman of Moorefield, WV and Gary Riggleman of Okinawa, Japan; and eight great-grandchildren. Born January 14, 1919 in Hardy County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Herndon and Karrie (Shockey) Helmick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers. Mr. Bean was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Kirby, WV, the son of Walter Lee and Elsie Mae Ruckman Bean. He was a farmer and timber man. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, American Legion Post 134 of Kirby, WV, and the Hott's Chapel United Methodist Church of Kirby. He was married to Chriselta Haines. Surviving with his wife are four sons, Lawrence Wilson Bean, Jr., of Shanks, WV, Steven Bean, Eddy L. Bean, and Phillip L. Bean, all of Romney; two daughters, Carolyn Bean of Romney and Alice B. Clara Belle was born November 21, 1934 in Moorefield, WV the daughter of Mary C. (Vetter) Liggett of Cockeysville, MD and James W. (Bill) Liggett of Moorefield. She was a former member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church and was employed by Helmore Farms in Brooklyn, MD, for 20 years and retired this year. She was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Beatty. Surviving are her parents, Michelle M. Peacock, Cockeysville and Bonnie L. Murphy, White Hall, MD; two sons, Jon W. Mrs. Bender had been a resident of Everett Christian Home. Mrs. Bender was born March 12, 1922 at Rig, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Marvin "Boss" Evans and the late Pearl Riggleman Evans. She moved to Pennsylvania in the early 1950's where she was employed as a craftsperson at Bedford Village. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Dick Bender of Everett, Pennsylvania; her sister, Dot Evans Rumers and three brothers, Emory, Paul and Floyd Evans. Mrs. Bender is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ruth Kessel Sherman of Owings Mills, Maryland, and Susan Laurene Kessel, Santa Cruz and El Paso, Texas; two sons, Steven Bender of Memphis, Tennessee and Stacey Bender of Everett, Pennsylvania; one brother, Herbert Evans of Rig; one sister, Betty Smith of Rig and Laurel Hill, Florida; 9 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Born May 25, 1929 in Jordan Run, WV he was the son of the late Thomas Christian and Ora (Turner) Berg. He was preceded in death by an infant son Danny Leon Berg, and infant daughter, Tina Jane Berg and an infant great- grandson, Tristan Drake Sherman; two brothers and one infant brother Vince Berg; five half sisters, infant Mary Berg, Elsie Carr, Edna Hesse, Pluma Goldizen and Viola Turner; four half brothers, George Berg, Carl Berg, Ulyssus Berg and Albert Turner. On June 20, 1953 he married Rosetta (Heavener) Berg. Mrs. Beverage was born May 2, 1909, at Durbin, a daughter of the late Leonard Calvin and Harriet Goodsell Frazier. She married Gray Beverage, who preceded her in death in 1992. Surviving are a daughter, Charlotte A. Carr, Moorefield; a son, Leonard G. Beverage, Keyser; a sister, Georgia Collins, Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Frazier. Mrs. Beverage was a retired bookkeeper with Howe Leather Co. He had been a resident at the Grant County Nursing Home since August 22, 1994. He was born March 13, 1904 at Franklin, WV, son of the late Flick and Matilda (Halterman) Bible Lambert. Twice married, he was preceded in death by Mary S. (Cullers) Bible, May 27, 1937 and Zernie J. (VanMeter) Bible on December 10, 1985. He was also preceded in death by two infant sons, one sister, Mary Lambert and two brothers, Otha and Oscar Lambert. Mr. Bible was a farmer and member of the Falls Assembly of God Church. Surviving are five sons, Marvin E. Bible of Scherr, WV, Merlin G. Bible, a resident of Grant County Nursing Home, Bobby E. Bible of Maysville, WV, Roger L. Bible of Moorefield, WV and Ronnie W. Bible of Petersburg, WV; one stepson, Warren Cullers of Timberville, VA; two daughters, Norma E. Feaster of New Creek, WV and Hilda F. Patrick "Bubba" Borror, age 23, of Maysville, WV, died Friday, July 18, 1997 as a result of an automobile accident at Maysville, WV. Born August 30, 1973 at Petersburg, WV he was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1991. He attended Potomac State College, Keyser, WV. He was a member of Dorcas Baptist Church, and attended Oak Dale Church of the Brethren at Scherr, WV and was employed by Lysle R. "Dick" Sites Construction. Surviving are his parents, Julia (Sites) Kerns of Petersburg, WV and Warren Paul Borror of Petersburg, WV, stepfather, Gerry Kerns of Petersburg, WV and stepmother, Judy Borror of Petersburg, WV. On July 14, 1996 he married Misty (Hawk) Borror. Maternal grandparents are Leo and Lettie Sites of Dorcas, WV; one brother, Sgt. He was born December 29, 1915 in Hardy County, WV, a son of the late Russell and Barbara Moton Bott. He was a retired Hardy County schoolteacher and a farmer. His wife, Minnie, preceded him in death in January 1994. Surviving are his daughter, Ledonna K. Bott of Bloomery, WV and one sister, Mary Belle Poland of Baker, WV. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, October 15, 1997 at the Baker United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Luther Crites and Rev. H. Eugene Baker officiating. She was a member of Lynside Mennonite Church and was a retired nurses' aide at Waynesboro Community Hospital. Her husband, Lloyd A. Bradfield, preceded her in death. He was the son of Wendy Rose Heavener and Rufus Joe Byrd, Jr. of Moorefield, WV. Surviving besides his parents are paternal grandmother, JoAnn Farris of Moorefield, WV and paternal grandfather, Rufus J. Byrd, Sr. of Florien, Louisiana. Maternal grandparents are Kathleen Heavener of Salem, VA and Anthony Heavener of Staunton, VA; maternal great-grandfather, Donald Simkins of Bealeton, VA; paternal great-grandparents, Dorothy and Ted Miller of Many, LA; paternal great- grandfather, Paul Heavener of Petersburg, WV; several aunts and uncles and cousins. Graveside services were held at the Walnut Grove Church Cemetery in Moorefield, WV on Saturday, October 30. Memorials may be made to the family, c/o JoAnn Farris, P.O. Box 844, Moorefield, WV 26836.
