LANTZ THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, July 16, 1997 The funeral service for Owen G. Lantz, 72, of Bergton, will be held today, Wednesday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mathias Mennonite Church by the Revs. Dean Williams and Lee Martin. Burial will be in the Caplinger Cemetery. Mr. Lantz died July 13, 1997 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was born September 13, 1924 in Criders and was the son of the late Jasper A. and Dorothy Dove Lantz. He was a retired pipe fitter. He was a member of the BTA Pipe fitter Union, Local #798 Tulsa, OK. He was a member of the Damascus Church of the Brethren in Bergton and attended the Mathias Mennonite Church. On January 13, 1951 he married the former Elaine Smith who survives. Also surviving are one sister, Edna Shipe of Mathias, WV; and a number of nieces and nephews. LARGENT THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, July 23, 1996 Robert Lee Largent, 69, of Wardensville, WV, died Wednesday July 16, 1997 at his home. The funeral was conducted Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV, by Pastor Kenneth Click. Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick. Mr. Largent was born May 28, 1928, in Hedgesville, WV, son of the late William and Rosie Fishell Largent. He was retired from American Viscose in Virginia. Surviving are his wife, Sallie Largent; a daughter, Margaret "Margie" Clark of Darkensville, WV; two brothers, James Largent and John Largent, both of Martinsburg; a sister, Mary Miller of Martinsburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. ********************************************* CAMSIE M. LAWSON THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, May 15, 1996 Camsie Mae Lawson, 74, Route 1, Singers Glen, died May 9, 1996, at the home of her son, Rodger Lawson in Singers Glen. She had been in failing health for the past two years. Mrs. Lawson was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Hardy County, WV and was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Lula Sherman Foltz. She was a homemaker and a member of the Singers Glen Baptist Church. On June 4, 1938, she married John Martin Lawson, who died July 27, 1978. Surviving are three daughters, Robin Griffith, New Market, Pat Krugger, Strasburg and Cindy Foltz, Mount Crawford; four sons, Rodger Lawson, Singers Glen, Danny Lawson, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Ronnie and Donnie Lawson, both of Singers Glen; one sister, Mamie Johnson, Titusville, Fla.; two nieces, Anna Emswiler, Fulks Run and Naomi Sager, Mathias, WV, who were raised in the Foltz home; 16 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The Rev. Mark W. Leavell conducted a graveside service on Monday at the Singers Glen Cemetery. LAWSON, SR THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, October 2, 1996 A memorial service for Donald Gene Lawson, Sr., 57, Singers Glen, was held Friday at the Singers Glen Baptist Church. The Rev. Harold Emswiler conducted the service. Mr. Lawson died Sept. 24, 1996 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, where he was admitted last Thursday. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born March 16, 1939, in Mathias, WV and was a son of the late John Martin and Camsie Fultz Lawson. He was a bricklayer and had done volunteer work for Mercy House in Harrisonburg. A veteran, he served with the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Singers Glen Baptist Church. On Dec. 26, 1956, he married the former Joyce S. Melhorne, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Lisa Kline, Edinburg and Terry Nutter and Kathy Hanson, Don Lawson, Jr., Singers Glen; three sisters, Cindy Foltz, Mount Crawford, Robin Griffith, Timberville and Pat Krueger, Strasburg; three brothers, Rodger and Ronnie Lawson, both of Singers Glen and Danny Lawson, West Palm Beach, FL; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His body was cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy House, 307 N. Liberty St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McMullen Funeral Home of Harrisonburg. ********************************************** MARTHA ANN LEASE THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 20, 1997 Martha Ann Lease, age 82, of Old Fields, WV, passed away Wednesday evening, August 13, 1997, at her grandson's residence. Mrs. Lease was born on April 4, 1915 in Hardy County to James and Margarette Ann (Myers) Shockey. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Thomas Lewis in 1944; one daughter, two sons and four brothers. Mrs. Lease is survived by two sons, Donald Lewis and Ronald Lease; one sister, Jane Shockey; two brothers, Woodrow and Samuel Shockey, all of Old Fields, WV; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lease was a homemaker and a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. Funeral services were held on Saturday at the Elmore- Chambers Funeral Home with Pastor Renee K. Scholten and Rev. Lauren R. Smith officiating. Burial followed at the Bethel Cemetery at Old Fields. Pallbearers were Floyd Baldwin, Raymond Shockey, Roy Shockey, Kevin Heare, Hansel Barb, Spike Combs and Kenny Smith. ELIZABETH LITTEN THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, October 30, 1996 Mrs. Elizabeth Webster Litten, age 93, of Moorefield passed away Saturday evening, October 26, 1996 at her residence. Born October 8, 1903, in McCauley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Ellis) Miller. Besides her parents Mrs. Litten was preceded in death by two husbands: the first, Walter H. Webster passed away on May 30, 1970 and the second, Rev. John P. Litten on May 24, 1995; six sisters and three brothers; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. One brother survives, J. Harrison Miller, age 102, of Wardensville, WV. Mrs. Litten is also survived by four daughters; Mrs. Kenneth (Pauline) Tusing, and Mrs. Courtney (Mattie) Tusing, both of Baker, Mrs. Oliver (Peggy) Riggleman of Moorefield, WV, and Mrs. Burton (Judy) Armstrong of Elkins, WV; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Virginia Allen of Martinsburg, WV; two sons, Winfred W. and Martha Webster of Falls Church, VA and Charles R. and Alma Webster of Baker, WV; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 great-great- grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Litten was a homemaker and a member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren. Funeral services were held at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were the grandsons: Greg Riggleman, Jim Riggleman, George Tusing, Larry Tusing, Russel Webster and Ronald Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Gilbert, Walter Webster, Donnie Allen, Allen Mahoney, Nicole Riggleman, Wesley Gilbert, Nathan Webster, Rob Mahoney, Jessica Tusing, Megan Tusing and Jackie Riggleman. LONG, JR. Robert V. Long, Jr., age 52, of Augusta, West Virginia, died Saturday, March 23, 1996 in the Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Long was born on January 16, 1944 in Washington, D.C., the son of Margaret Houff Long of Vienna, Virginia and the late Robert V. Long, Sr. He was a self-employed produce salesman in Moorefield, West Virginia. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Mr. Long married Virginia Cameron on March 26, 1977 in Stafford County, Virginia. Surviving with his wife and mother is one sister, Diane Harman of Winston-Salem, NC; and two brothers, Jeffrey Long of Fairfax, VA and Timothy Long of Ocala, FL. A memorial service was conducted on Friday at Omps Funeral Home with friends of Mr. Long officiating.
