RAINES THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, September 10, 1997 Ray Hanson Raines, 91, of Romney, WV, died Wednesday, August 27, 1997, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. Mr. Raines was born July 16, 1906, in Old Fields, WV, son of Albert VanMeter and Chloe S. Smith Raines. He was retired from the National Institutes of Health as an industrial operational engineer. His wife, Nellie Pearl Raines, died Feb. 23, 1995. Surviving are a brother, Robert "Van" Raines of Martinsburg, WV; and two sisters, Ellen Virginia Lepley of Cumberland, MD and Ava S. Bartges of Augusta, WV. A funeral service was conducted Saturday in Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, WV, with the Rev. Norman Landis officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, WV. ************************************* JAMES RAY RALSTON THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, September 24, 1997 James R. Ralston, age 64, of Moorefield, WV, died Friday, September 19, 1997 at Cincinnati, Ohio. Born February 4, 1933 at Morgantown, WV, he was the son of Neva Dell (West) Ralston of Morgantown, WV and the late William Ray Ralston. He was preceded in death besides his father, by a stepson, Kevin Neff. Jim was a Construction Analyst for the Small Business Administration Disaster Relief. He was a member of the West Virginia University Alumni Association; Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 and American Legion Post 78 of Petersburg, WV. He was an avid sportsman. Surviving are his wife, Nancy J. (Thorne) Ralston; one son, James P. Ralston of Williamstown, WV; two stepsons, Doug Neff of Moorefield, WV and David Dierkes of Morgantown, WV; one daughter, Rae Anne Winston of Reedsville, WV; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert L. Ralston of Morgantown, WV; two nieces, Elwanda McCartney and Robin Masters of Morgantown, WV. The funeral was held on Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV with Rev. Carole Goldizen and Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Burial was in the Newhouse Cemetery at Rig, WV. Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home. ********************************************* KENNETH JUNIOR RATLIEF THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, May 1, 1996 Kenneth Junior Ratlief, age 54, of Kessel, WV, died Thursday, April 18, 1996 at his residence following a long illness. He was a son of the late William and Kathleen (Brill) Ratlief. Surviving are three brothers, Harry, Gary and Forrest Ratlief, all of Winchester, VA and two sisters, Goldie Marple and Patricia Ratlief of Winchester. The body has been cremated. Memorial services were conducted Tuesday at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV, with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, November 18, 1998 James M.K. Reid, Jr. age 82, of Petersburg, WV died Sunday, November 15, 1998 at Grant Memorial Hospital. Born December 5, 1915 in Romney, WV he was the son of the late James M.K. Reid, Sr. and Alice (Keller) Reid. Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee (Hull) Reid on January 19, 1989 and one brother, George A. Reid. He was assistant administrator of Grant Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 1982. He was elder of Petersburg Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of Petersburg Lodge No. 145 AF and AM. He was a 50-year member of Petersburg Lodge I.O.O.F. No 408. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a graduate of Shepherd College. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James M.K. Reid, III and Patricia of Dumfries, VA; one grandson and wife, James M.K. Reid IV and Kimberly of Bristow, VA; one sister, Agnes Strawderman of Petersburg, WV; one brother, John Keller Reid of Petersburg, WV; one niece, Mary Ann Reid of Charlottesville, VA; two nephews, Thomas Reid Strawderman of Charleston, WV and George A. Reid, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida. A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Donald G. Scofield, Jr. and Rev. REYNOLDS THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 28, 1996 Blondell Webster Reynolds, age 75 of Wardensville, WV, passed away at his residence on August 22, 1996. Mr. Reynolds was born May 21, 1921 son of the late Lemuel and Ollie Webster Reynolds. He was retired from ABEX in Winchester, VA and was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife, Irene Tharp Reynolds; one daughter, Sara Bauserman of Wardensville, WV and one stepdaughter, Debra Fife also of Wardensville, WV; two brothers, Pete Randolph Reynolds of Moorefield and Oliver Reynolds of Morgantown, WV; two sisters, Hazel Blankenship of Charleston, WV and June Riffe of Florida; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Dale Rinard. Funeral services were held Monday at the Loy Funeral Home with burial at the Wardensville Cemetery in Wardensville, WV. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Loy Funeral Home. ************************************************* GRACIE LEE REYNOLDS THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, December 22, 1999 Gracie Lee Reynolds, age 91 of Baker, WV passed away on Friday, December 17, 1999 at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center in Baker, WV. She was born March 17, 1908 in Baker, the daughter of the late Aldine and Elsie Smith Dove. Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker, member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Baker and attended Baker Methodist Church in Baker, WV. She was married to Roy Melvin Whitmire, who passed away in 1956 and Stanley Reynolds, who died in 1992. Surviving is one daughter, Jean Whitmire Compton of Danville, VA; one granddaughter, Kahne Evans Haley of Danville, VA; four sisters, Ola Miller of Baker, WV; Ethel Link of Rio, WV; Beulah Burkhamer of Ohio and Eunice Lupton of Rio, WV; two brothers, Jesse Dove and Elmer Dove, both of Baker, WV. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 20 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Baker, WV with Rev. Russel Yoak and Rev. Nip Crites officiating. RIGGLEMAN THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, April 24, 1996 Calvin Welton Riggleman, age 75, of Rig, WV, died Monday, April 15, 1996 at his home. Born September 1, 1920 in Petersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Roy G. and Mary Susan (Simmons) Riggleman. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Crites and Ruth Hyre. Mr. Riggleman was an employee with Bean's Lime and Stone Inc. for 50 years. He retired in January 1996. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Served in the 842nd Engineer Aviation Battalion and attended several of their annual reunions. During World War II he was awarded Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon w/4 Bronze Stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal. He attended Rig Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Hardy County Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 of Petersburg, WV. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Alice B. (Rumor) Riggleman. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1940. She is a resident of Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, WV. Also surviving are four brothers, Elvin S. Riggleman and Roy G. Riggleman, Jr., both of Petersburg, WV, Forrest Riggleman of Winchester, VA, Glenn Riggleman of Westernport, MD; five sisters, Nellie Weatherholtz of Moorefield, WV, Vista Eskridge of Winchester, VA, Dixie Mauzy of Springfield, VA, Mary Ellen Mauzy and Irene Iman, both of Petersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV, with the Rev. John Goldizen officiating. Burial was in the Riggleman-Barr-Hinkle Cemetery at Rig, WV. Riggleman, age 75, of Rig, WV, died Wednesday, August 27, 1997 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, WV. Mrs. Riggleman had been a resident of Hampshire Health Care Center since March 28, 1996. Born July 4, 1922 at Rig, WV, she was a daughter of the late Isaac Edward and Margaret Virginia (Crites) Rumer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin W. Riggleman on April 15, 1996. She was also preceded in death by two infant sisters, two sisters, Grace Hardy and Marietta Hinkle; three brothers, Glenn, Wardney and Edward Rumer. Mrs. Riggleman was a member of the Rig Assembly of God Church. Surviving are one sister, Sarah Barr of Monrovia, MD; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Merilyn Turner of Augusta, WV. "Pete" Riggleman, age 59, of Prince Frederick, MD, a former Moorefield resident died on August 18, 1997 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. Born January 27, 1938 in Hardy County, WV, he was the son of the late Alvin John Riggleman of Rig, WV and is survived by his mother, Ruby Mongold Getz of Keyser, WV. He is also survived by his wife, Chole (Crites) Riggleman; two sons, Kenneth "Mike" and Mark Riggleman of Prince Frederick, MD; one daughter, Karen "Peaches" Winters of Edgewater, MD; three grandchildren, Kevin and Jason Riggleman and Sarah Riggleman of Prince Frederick, MD; four brothers, Ronald E. Riggleman of Moorefield, WV, Elmer Ray Riggleman of Rig, WV, Roger D. Riggleman of WA, and Douglas Riggleman. His remains will rest in Old Fields, WV. Riggleman, age 75, of Petersburg, WV and formerly of Fort Washington, MD, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born November 21, 1923 in Upper Tract, WV, he was the son of the late Adam and Lessie (Dean) Riggleman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Mae (Whetzel) Riggleman on April 25, 1994. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Teddy and Roy Riggleman, and a half brother, Riley Smith. Mr. Riggleman was a diesel mechanic and worked for Local Union #355 Baltimore, MD, and was a US Army Veteran of World War II. Surviving are five sons, Owen Riggleman of Chesapeake, MD, Alvin Riggleman of Petersburg, WV, Daniel Riggleman of Fort Washington, MD, James Edward Riggleman of Rig, WV and Robert L. Riggleman of Fisher, WV; four daughters, Angie Martin of Ocean City, MD, Darlene Demoss of Alma, WV, Linda Vazquez of Homestead, Florida, Peggy Meyers of Front Royal, VA; 27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dolly Gallagher of Upper Marlboro, MD; three brothers, Ralph C.
