THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, November 18, 1998 Albert Leroy Taylor, Sr., age 77, of Caledonia Heights, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 1998 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born July 24, 1921, in Moorefield, WV, he was the son of the late Albert Leroy and Belle Taylor. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Taylor Largent, one grandson, Troy Matthew Smith in Sept. 1990, and all his brothers and sisters. He was the last member of his immediate family. Mr. Taylor had been employed at Hester Industries and attended the Moorefield Church of God & Christ. He is survived by his wife, Hellene Sugars Taylor, one daughter, Helen Louise Smith, one son, Albert Leroy Taylor, Jr., all of Moorefield, seven grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 20 at the Elmore- Chambers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henderson Wheeler officiating. Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Moorefield. Pallbearers were Paul Crites, Dutch Wolfe, Carlton Hilliard, Charles Riggleman, Shawn Redman and Keith Redman. ******************************************************** HERMAN HARRISON "BUCK" TAYLOR, JR. THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, July 16, 1997 Herman H. "Buck" Taylor, age 49, of Petersburg, WV, died Monday, July 7, 1997 at University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA. He was born July 18, 1947 at Durgon, WV and was the son of Herman H. and Martha (Runions) Taylor of Old Fields, WV. Mr. Taylor was a truck driver for Kessel Mulch, Keyser, WV, attended the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Era, a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 579 of Moorefield, WV, a member of the South Branch Disabled American Veterans Chapter 29, a member of VFW Post 9606 of Moorefield and a member of the American Legion Post 200 Charleston, WV. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Brenda L. (Sites) Taylor. They were united in marriage on September 7, 1968. Also surviving are two sons, Michael H. Taylor of Verona, VA and Rodney C. Taylor of Petersburg, WV; one granddaughter, Brooke Nicole Taylor; five sisters, Molly Wolfe, Martha Wolfe, Nellie Delawder and Patricia Bean, all of Moorefield and Judy Swick of Petersburg; six brothers, Robert Taylor and Johnny Taylor of Purgitsville, WV, Byron "Peanut" Taylor of Rig, WV, Raymond Taylor of Burlington, WV, David Taylor of Barnum, MN, and Bradley Taylor of Petersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was conducted Thursday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV, with Rev. Laurean Smith and Rev. Otis "Buzz" Weatherholtz officiating. Burial was in the South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV. Memorials may be made to the Moorefield Church of the Brethren or charity of choice. TAYLOR THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, October 9, 1996 Jack Garland Taylor, age 43 of Romney, WV died Friday, October 4 at his residence. Born on April 20, 1953 in Romney, he was the son of the late Roy Calvin and Elizabeth Ellen (Cole) Taylor. He was preceded in death also by one brother, Roy Jesse Taylor and one sister, Marie Ellen Brooks. Surviving are two daughters, Jacynda Amelia and Jackia Ebony Taylor, both of Moorefield; one brother, Richard Taylor, Harrisonburg, VA; seven sisters, Goldie Smith, Charlotte Stone, Elsie Fields and Joan Redman, all of Romney; Alyce Butler of Keyser, WV and Dorothy Smith and Delores Redman, both of Baltimore, MD and one granddaughter. The funeral was conducted at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 8 with Pastor Deborah Shreve officiating assisted by Rev. Leroy Allen. Interment was at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Romney, WV. TESKE THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, April 24, 1996 Mrs. Paula D. Teske, age 91, of Rt. 1, Mathias, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 1996 at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. She was born January 24, 1905, in Frankfurt, Germany, and was the daughter of the late Adam and Wilhelmina Lotz. Mrs. Teske immigrated to the United States from Germany in March of 1925 and for 18 years she was employed at the Review and Herald Publishing Association in Takoma Park, MD in the 1950's and 60's. She was a member of the New Market Seventh Day Adventist Church for 25 years. On September 14, 1930, she married John A. Teske, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John H. Teske, M.D. of Potomac, MD; a daughter-in-law, Joan B. Teske of Potomac, MD; three grandchildren, Cindy Pillsbury and family of Laurel, MD; John H. Teske, Jr. and family of Yakima, WA, and Cathy Wilson and family of Highland, MD; seven great-grandchildren; and two nieces residing in Germany. Pastor Rick Greve and Elder Richard Harris conducted the funeral service in the Theis Funeral Chapel of New Market. Interment followed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery at New Market. THOMAS THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, September 10, 1997 Eunice M. Thomas, 87, of Fulks Run, expired at Rockingham Memorial Hospital Saturday, 23 August 1997. She had been ill for several years and in the hospital or nursing home for the past five months. She was born 2 May 1910 at Fulks Run, the daughter of George B. and Minnie E. Bare Turner. Eunice grew up and attended school at Cootes Store. On 27 December 1927, she married Andrew J. Thomas, a Rockingham County teacher. He expired on 20 October 1966. She was an active member of Mt. Carmel United Brethren and later Evangelical United Brethren Church, working with the women's society, Christian Endeavor. Later she became a member of Broadway (Sunset Drive) United Methodist Church. Eunice was a lover of nature and her pets. She placed many stitches in her years in quilting and crocheting and was very creative in those crafts. Surviving are the following: her son and daughter-in-law, Chaplain, Lt. Col. Wilton B. and Helen F. Thomas, USAF-Retired of Broadway; her daughter and son-in-law, Hoy D. and Jane T. Dove of Mathias, WV; grandchildren, George B. Thomas of Edinburg and Quinton B. Thomas of Broadway, Denyelle and Steven Stroup of Fulks Run, Lisa and Ben Charles of Harrisonburg, Julie and John Stinston of Metter, Georgia, Crystl and Robert Willison of Cincinnati, OH, and Andrew H. and Leona F. Dove of Mathias, WV. There are also three great-grandchildren, Andrew Scott Dove of Mathias and Taylor Adam and Katherine Scarlett Stroup of Fulks Run. Funeral services were held Wednesday 27 August at 1 p.m. from Sunset Drive United Methodist Church at Broadway with burial at Mt. Grove Cemetery at Fulks Run. Services were conducted by the Rev. Jeff May. She was born August 1, 1924 in Kingwood, WV and was the daughter of the late Clark L. & Cora M. (Umstot) Shade. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers and was a member of the Christ Gospel Church, Dayton, VA and a past member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church of Moorefield. Surviving is her husband, George D. Thomas; one son, George D. Thomas, Jr. of Moorefield; two daughters, Donna Pratt of Stephens City, VA and Joan Whetzel of Dayton, VA; two brothers, Donald Shade of New Martinsville, WV, Harold Shade of Steubenville, OH and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Nov., 21, 1998 at the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church in Moorefield with the Rev. Ted Osgood and Rev. Gus O'Haran officiating. Burial was at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield. Memorials may be made to the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company. Born April 18, 1915 at Kessel, WV, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Etta (Fultz) Weatherholtz. Also preceding her in death were her husband, William Thorne in 1976 and one brother, and one grandchild. Surviving are three daughters, Viola Williams of Confluence, PA, Dottie Sites of Winchester, VA, and Mary Stevens, Middletown, VA; three sons, William Thorne, Jr. of Fisher, WV, Clyde Thorne of Winchester, VA and Stanley Thorne of Tacoma Park, MD; one sister, Eunice Walters of Petersburg, WV; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 13, 1997 at the Elmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial followed at the Fultz Family Cemetery at Kessel, WV. TIMBROOK THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 21, 1996 Garland Parmilee Timbrook, 68, of Kirby, WV died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996 at his home. Mr. Timbrook was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Kirby, the son of Marvin and Clara Pownell Timbrook. He was retired as manager of Southern States in Leesburg after 34 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Hampshire Post 91 and VFW Post 1101, both of Romney, and a charter member of Leesburg VFW. He was a member of the Hampshire County Farm Bureau and was honored as the Farmer of the Year in 1993. He was married to Katherine Wheeler. Surviving are two sons, Marc Timbrook of Leesburg and Kyle Timbrook of Herndon; two sisters, Eileen Hott of Romney and Ruth Saville of Kearneysville, WV; two brothers, Harold Timbrook of Lincoln and Harry Timbrook of Chambersburg, PA, and five grandchildren. The funeral was held on Tuesday in Hott's Chapel Methodist Church, Kirby, with Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating. Burial was in Hott's Chapel Cemetery, Kirby. JOANN TRIPLETT THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 18, 1999 G. Joann Smith Triplett, age 66, of 364 Old Bethel Lane, Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, August 12, 1999 in the Winchester Medical Center. Mrs. Triplett was born May 19, 1933 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Joseph Edward Smith and Gladys Genevieve Derry Smith Files. She was a sales clerk for G & M Clothing, retiring after ten years of service, and was also a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Aid Society of the church and was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She was a leader of the North Mountain Go Getter's 4-H Club and was a recipient of the Silver Clover Award. She was a 1951 graduate of Handley High School where she played in the school band and played in the Winchester City Band for five years. Mrs. Triplett married William Frederick "Bill" Triplett on June 14, 1951 in Winchester, VA at the E.U.B. Brethren Church by the Reverend Carl W. Hiser. Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Sharon J. Borden of Martinsburg, WV, Patricia A. T. Pittsnogle of Ranson, WV, and Deirdre L. Dillon of Colorado Springs, CO; one son, Gerald E. Triplett of Seminole, FL; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Julia Files Steger of Clifton Forge, VA and Sharon Frye of Winchester, VA; and one brother, Joseph Edward Smith, Jr. of Gore, VA. A funeral service was conducted on Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Lynn A. Bechdolt officiating. Interment was in the St. John's Cemetery. Born May 15, 1909 at Durgon, WV, he was a son of the late Clarence and Sally Duffy Tross. He was a retired farmer and a member of Half Moon Hunting Club, Wardensville, WV. Mr. Tross was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Walker Tross, March 7, 1983. He was preceded in death by three children, Juanita, Ruth and Junior Tross; two brothers, Robert and Wayne Tross; and one sister Katherine Tross. Born March 28, 1958 in Bergton, VA, she was the daughter of Alfreda (Helmick) Leatherman and the late Frank Leatherman of Moorefield. Surviving besides her mother are her husband, Tony Turner of Moorefield; one stepson, Berek Turner at home; one stepdaughter, Jessica Turner at home; one brother, Daniel Helmick of Moorefield; and one sister, Rebecca Stump of Moorefield. Mrs. Turner was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and a homemaker. The funeral service was conducted Sunday at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Mel and Lisa Fike officiating. Burial was at the Scott Cemetery in Durgon. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.
