Dated September 21, 1795. Presented to the Court on January 15, 1800. In the name of God amen I Catharine Pancake of the county of Hardy and state of Virginia being sick and weak of Body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to almighty God for this -- and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I recommend my soul to God who gave it me and my body to be interred at the Discretion of my Exors here after named and as touching such Worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with I Give and dispose of in the following manner Imprimis I give and Bequeath to Catharine Tevebough daughter of Solomon Tevebough the the sum of seventy pounds to be Left in the hands of my son David Pancake to purchase a negro Wench immediately afer my decease which said negro Wench when purchased to go to the the said Catharine Tevebough together with the Increase of the said Wench to her and her Heirs forever but in case the said Catharine Tevebough should die before she arises to the Age of twenty one years, or marriage then the said Wench and her increase to go to Jacob Tevebough son of the said Solomon Tevebough to him and his heirs forever, but it is my will and desire that the said negro Wench and her increase to remain with my daughter Dolly Tevebough wife of Solomon Tevebough and Mother of the said Catharine and Jacob for the benefit and Support of the said Catharine and Jacob Tevebough secondly I Give and bequeath to my son David Pancake all my Estate both Rale and personal and all my outstanding debts to him and his Heirs forever thirdly I give and bequeath to my Daughter Catharine Harness wife of Michael Harness the sum of five Shillings current money to be paid her by the said David Pancake fourthly I give and bequeath to my son John Pancake the sum of five Shilling current Money to be paid him by the said David Pancake out of my Estate fifthly I give and Bequeath to my said Daughter Dolly Tevebough half my waering clothes after my death and the other half of my clothes I give and bequeath to Sarah Pancake wife of my said son David Pancake and Lastly I do hereby Nominate constitute and appoint my said son David Pancake my whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made In Witness Whereof I have here unto set My hand and affixed my seal this twenty first day of September 1795 her Signed Sealed published and delivered Catharine + Pancake (seal) by the said testative to be her Last mark will and testament in presence of the words "my daughter" interlined before signed Wm Bullitt Jno L Sehon Cath Bullitt At a court held for Hardy county the 15 day of January 1800 This Last will and testament of Catharine Pancake decd was proved by the oaths of Wm Bullitt and John L Sehon two of the Witnesses thereto, and at a court held for the said county the 12 day of February following the same was further proved by the oath of Cath Bullitt the other witness thereto, and ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of David Pancake the Executor there in named who made oath thereto according to Law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probate there of in due form giving security, whereupon he with security entered into and acknowledged a bond conditioned as the Law directs Ed Williams ------------------------------------------------- Submitted by Lowell Pankake, pankake@usfamily.net
