Witnesseth that the said Michael Greathouse and Rachel his wife for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars lawful money of Virginia the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold aliend enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presentsdo grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release and confirm to the said Abiga Waren and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land lying the following boundary situation on the head waters of Husteads fork of Booths Creek adjoining said Abiga Warin it being a part of said Greathouses home place that he gave off to his Son John G. Greathouse and bounded as followeth Beginning at a chesnut and hickory and running thence S. 66 E. 40 to a W.O. stump S. 48. E. 34 to a stone S. 68 1/2 E 20 to a beech S. 55 E 64 to a chesnut oak S. 40 W 26 chesnut oak S. 27 W. 60 to pointers N 59 W 71 white oak N 42 E 110 beech Due west 114 white oak N. 20 E 58 to the beginning containing sixty acres more or less to have and to hold the above described tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances to the said Abiga Warin his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Abiga Warin his heirs and assigns forever and the said Michael Greathouse and Rachel his wife for them selves and their heirs and assigns doth hereby covenant to and with the said Abiga Warin his heirs and assigns that they the said Michael Greathouse Rachel his wife the above described tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances to the said Abiga Warin his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend against all persons and claimes whatsoever In testimony whereof the aforesaid Michael Greathouse and Rachel his wife have here unto set their hands and seals the day and year above written Michael Greathouse (Seal) Rachel Greathouse (Seal) Harrison County to wit We John Cather and Jedediah Waldo Justice of the peace in the county of Harrison and state of Virginia do hereby certify that Michael Greathouse a partie to a certain deed baring date the fifth day of may in the year of our Lord 1838 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the clerk of the county court of Harrison in order that the said deed may be recorded Given under our hands and seals this fifth day of May in the year of our Lord 1838 John Cather (Seal) Jeh Waldo (Seal) Harrison County to wit We John Cather and Jedediah Waldo Justices of the peace for the county aforesaid and state of Virginia do hereby certify that Rachel Greathouse wife of Michael Greathouse parties to a certain deed bearing date the fifth day of May in the year of our Lord 1838 and hereby unto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and being examined by us prively and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her she the aforesaid Rachel acknowledged that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and wished not to retract it.
