The following is the information from his Veterans Records from The National Archives He was a Private in Co I, 11 Reg't Virginia Infantry which subsequently became Co I, 11th Reg't W. Va. Inf. Mustered into service June 16, 1862 at Ravenswood, VA at the age of 22. Remarks on his Company Muster Roll for June 30, 1862 "Retained by Civil Authority at Parkersburg" Indicated absent at that time He was present on the Muster Roll until July and August, 1863 where the remark says that he was on Scout, Accidentally wounded at Meadow Bluff May 31, 1864. May and June 1864 again Absent. "In Hospital Charleston, W. Va. July and August, 1864 absent "Left sick at Liberty, Va June 17/64" November and December 1864 absent - Remarks "Winchester, W Va There are two Muster-out Rolls December 26, 1864 Camp near Aikens Landing (?) only remark "Recruit" The second Muster-out Roll Richmond, Virginia June 17, 1865 Muster-out date June 17, 1865 Last paid to December 31, 1864 Clothing account: "since last settlement Am't for cloth'g in kind of money adv'd $11.15 due $100.00 Wounded by accident Berngers Mills WVa. May 22-64 clothing account last settlement Dec 31-64 Also included is Hospital Number 90--General Hospital Parkersburg, West Va. Gives his age 21,Admitted July 20, 1864; married, Residence: Fishers Point, Jackson Co. W Va wife Mary Cotrill He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He was a member of P H Sheridan Post No. 114. He held the following offices in the G.A.R. Commander, Quarter Master and Chaplin. He died in Mason County in 1910.
