Will of Isaac Cross Transcribed from a photocopy of microfilm by Melissa Jenkins. Photocopy of Record. That is microfilmed at the Family History Library. FHL #0567239 Jackson County Virginia Will Book 2 Page 25 Notes: All occurences of Cross are spelled using the Germen double S set character which looks a little like a capital P. I am pretty sure that the person writing this was fluent in German and capable of writing German. The use of the double S set could have been taught to James Grier however it is unlikely that he would have randomly capitalized Nouns without expierence and education in writing German. In German all nouns are capitalized and historically Germans capitalize more than just nouns. It seems most likely that this will had been transcribed from an original document by James Grier Elk. The handwritting on the will is exactly the same as James Grier's on the court record. The court record also says A. Copy which lends more credence to this theory. Also the will names John Flinn as executor and wife Mary Ann Mariah Cross as executrix however William Flinn is named executor and Mary Ann Mariah Cross as executrix. 25 Isaac Cross Will In the name of God Amen.
