Farmer's Repository November 24, 1809
The following was found in a weekly newspaper in Charles Town, Jefferson Co,  
VA, which is now Jefferson Co, WV.
 
"Jefferson, act.
October Court, 1809.
George Newkirk, Complainant,
against
John Maxwell Swann, William Glassell Swann, David Carothers Swann, and Robert 
Joseph Swann, children and heirs of Joseph Swann, deceased,
        Defendants.
IN CHANCERY,
The defendants not having entered their appearance agreeably to an act of 
assembly and the rules of this court, and it appearing to the satisfaction of 
the court that the said defendants are not inhabitants of this state:  On the 
motion of complainant, by his counsel, it is ordered that the said defendants 
do appear here on the second Tuesday in December next, to answer the bill of 
the said complainant, and that a copy of this order be forthwith inserted in 
the Farmer's Repository, published in Charlestown, for two months successively, 
and published at the court house door of Jefferson county.
A copy,    Teste,
GEO. HITE, Clk."
