William C. Prows was born in Kanawha County West Virginia on June 11, 1827. He married Lodeskey Ann Roberts (1835-1923) at the Humboldt River, Nevada. He enlisted on July 16, 1846 at Council Bluffs as a Private under Captain J.D. Hunter's Company B., Mormon Battalion, marched across southern Arizona and was honorably discharged at Los Angeles on July 15, 1847. He returned to Arizona and lived in Mesa. He died at Colonia Juarez, Mexico on May 23, 1894 at the age of 66.
